Wu Pifu escorted the space fleet back to the spaceport. Before the despairing eyes of everyone present, he watched all fleet personnel gather in an open area, then announced on the spot that within thirty seconds, one out of every two would be selected for execution. If they did not comply, he would randomly pick the lucky winners himself—and then it would not merely be one out of every two being killed.
This naturally caused an uproar among them and among all the spaceport employees.
As had been said before, this was not ancient times, but a future interstellar age beyond the twenty-first century. Never mind whether this era was sick, whether class, capital, and other factors had marginalized the people at the bottom, subjected them to systematic oppression and inhuman exploitation, or even sought to eliminate them—at least on the surface, people still professed to value "civilization."
But Wu Pifu had completely torn away that gauzy veil of "civilization" they took for granted. He showed them, plainly and truly, that half of them now had to die for what they had done. In the most savage and violent manner, he taught them what retribution meant.
Just be a human being, even if all you did was exploit surplus value.
But if you insisted on not being human—eating human flesh, drinking human blood, playing with human bones... then Wu Pifu would not treat them as human either!
The thirty seconds passed in the blink of an eye. Wu Pifu did not stand on ceremony. He simply stretched out a hand and slapped it downward, and an enormous pressure descended out of nowhere.
More than two-thirds of the fleet personnel were crushed into pulp on the spot, becoming indistinct heaps of flesh and blood on the ground, the kind that could
