The Monk May Escape, but the Temple Remains

Wu Pifu stood with his saber sheathed, thoroughly satisfied.

That round of attacks had been as swift as thunder. It was not only because of the new multiplier stacking, but also because he had caught his opponent off guard. Relying on Superbrain World to completely ignore the opponent's movement speed, his rapid assault had actually chopped an Ascendant Body to death.

This proved that the combat style he had envisioned was viable!

He would discard all those flashy abilities and divine powers gained as his strength grew, his supernatural paths increased, and he neared ascension. No pointless tricks. Either incorporate them into his close-combat system, use them as support, or leave them solely as supernatural stacking zones.

It did not matter much against enemies far weaker than himself. But when facing opponents of equal strength—or stronger enemies—his core combat style would be only one thing... draw his blade and fight up close. Whether the opponent was some colossal monster, a bizarre phenomenon, or an indescribable, unnameable source, as long as he used the commoner title as his core, he could chop them apart!

How about some true damage?

During his time summarizing and organizing things in Ocean Dream World, he had already thought through this entire issue of future development. Long-range attacks and dazzling martial techniques might seem impressive—like the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms, whose single strike could span hundreds or even thousands of miles, or the Star River Profound Origin Cannon, as magnificent and terrifying as a planet-destroying cannon—but all such supernatural powers had one obvious flaw: they could not benefit from the true-damage bonus within five steps of the commoner title.
