Wu Pifu noticed something: whenever he drew close to Mazda and the Fifth Generation members Mazda had mentioned, the degree to which he anchored The Fish and the Butterfly rapidly increased. Though it was still only the slightest improvement, the speed was more than a hundred times faster than before—at the very least, faster than The Fish and the Butterfly's erosion of the Bodhi Fruit.
Before encountering Mazda, their erosion of the Bodhi Fruit had been far faster than his rate of anchoring them. By Wu Pifu's estimate, they would have been able to devour him before his anchoring rate even reached half. The only way to accelerate the anchoring had been for people to die around him—lots of people.
Wu Pifu had therefore been wondering how he would later make his way to battlefields piled high with corpses and drenched in blood. He had not expected a second method to emerge.
Were these Fifth Generation members able to help because, like him, they had lived for a very long time and accumulated an enormous amount of negativity?
Yet something else struck Wu Pifu as very strange: he could not sense much negativity from Mazda's spiritual consciousness. The level of negativity in Mazda's spiritual consciousness was not much different from that of an ordinary person.
The only difference between him and an ordinary person was... an air of decaying twilight emanated from the very essence of his soul. His body, movements, and spiritual consciousness were all no different from those of a normal person, but that aura of decay on the level of his soul essence still surprised Wu Pifu.
