Background / History

Ke Mingwei has worn the Rain Crow mask for more than twenty years. Throughout that time, he kept his superhero work entirely separate from his family life, concealing his identity even while raising his children in Dawn Capital. 7

Rain Crow once trained the hero Gray Owl as his successor. Clockmaker later captured and publicly dismembered Gray Owl, leaving his remains displayed outside Hero Corporation as a message for Rain Crow. Afterward, Rain Crow stopped training successors and harshly discouraged anyone who tried to imitate his appearance. 44 49

During the school-bus hijacking by Ant Freak, Rain Crow rescued the students and subdued the mutant with a single strike. His adopted son, Ke Mingqing, recognized his secret identity soon afterward. 1

White Jack subsequently targeted Rain Crow through an elaborate hostage game, exploiting knowledge of Ke Mingwei's wife and children to provoke him. Although Rain Crow saw through White Jack's disguises, the threat exposed the vulnerability of his carefully protected family life. 6 7

Rain Crow later captured the vampire Stro at Zero Overpass without killing her, then confronted Owl Judge over the antihero's executions at Syndico Tower. 24 40

After Blue Dove debuted in a costume resembling Rain Crow's, Ke Mingwei feared that Clockmaker would return. He considered using the rookie as bait to end their decades-long conflict, despite recognizing the moral cost of doing so. 49

However, White Jack's use of his wife and children revealed the intensity of his buried fear and anger; Rain Crow violently assaulted the puppet after it took Ke Mingqing's form. 1 7
