Observation Haki.
At its core, it was a brand-new form of perception born from the fusion and sublimation of the five senses and the sixth sense.
This new perception could be used for reconnaissance, as well as to predict an enemy's movements in battle.
To its user,
it was like possessing extraordinarily keen insight, able to see through and discern an enemy's actions.
By the way,
there were two reasons why Haki was called the ticket into the world of the strong.
In fierce battles between powerful fighters, without the protection of Armament Haki, a fragile body would break down first.
And the pace of intense combat was as fast as lightning—far too fast for the naked eye to follow.
Without Observation Haki, one could not even see an enemy's attacks clearly.
Therefore,
Armament Haki and Observation Haki were both essential.
"That concludes the basics."
Rayleigh paused before explaining the details. "Many people believe that Observation Haki training should begin by abandoning the senses."
"They blindfold themselves, cover their ears, block their noses..."
"Gradually discarding the five senses."
"And, upon entering complete darkness, digging out their instinctive sense of danger."
As Rayleigh spoke, he shook his head.
"But that method is wrong."
"Abandoning one sense only makes your attention strengthen the remaining ones."
"The essence of Observation Haki is sublimation, not abandonment."
"The proper path is to use every sense and fuse them perfectly together, just as our internal organs work together in coordination."
At that point, Rayleigh glanced at Junichi.
Junichi found it strange.
Why was he looking at him?
But Rayleigh offered no explanation and simply continued, "So there is only one word for the true method of training—'selflessness.'"
"Selflessness?" Junichi froze for a moment.
"That's right." Rayleigh nodded. "Observation Haki requires its user to remain calm at all times."
"But this calmness does not mean suppressing your emotions."
"It means relaxing your body and mind, calmly sensing and accepting the information around you."
"If you cannot become 'selfless,' people will instinctively reject things they dislike, hate, or resist. That makes it difficult to grasp Observation Haki."
Having said that, Rayleigh glanced at Junichi again, his expression slightly odd.
Junichi was even more baffled.
Yet Rayleigh still did not explain. He merely thought to himself, This will be very difficult for you.
Though they had only known each other for a short time, Rayleigh's eyes were sharp.
He could tell that Junichi's nerves were constantly taut, like a drawn bowstring.
Restraint, endurance, suppression...
Through all sorts of methods, Junichi presented himself as a calm person.
But Rayleigh could see clearly that it was actually indifference.
This taut indifference and vigilance ran directly counter to the training method for Observation Haki.
Because Observation Haki required a selfless sort of relaxation.
Even if he has talent, he'll probably be stuck at this stage for quite a while, Rayleigh judged inwardly.
But he did not say so aloud, lest he discourage Junichi.
He only said, "You may begin."
"Alright." Junichi did not care that Rayleigh had not explained his strange look.
He sat cross-legged on the spot and closed his eyes.
The first step in training Observation Haki was to calm one's mind.
Of course,
calmness alone was not enough.
One also needed to relax, as freely as a bird, becoming light and unrestrained.
That was difficult for Junichi.
He kept his eyes closed for a long time, yet he could not enter that state.
Whenever he began to feel something, he instinctively drove it away.
"As expected..."
Junichi frowned inwardly and pondered. It's hard for me to relax.
Life in the Naruto World, being reborn after living two lives, Weasel's threat...
Those experiences
made it difficult for him to relax freely.
Soon,
ten minutes passed, and Junichi saw only one notification from the system panel.
[You trained Observation Haki once. Proficiency +1.]
Proficiency would not increase through just any sort of training.
It had to be "standard" training.
Yet that single point of proficiency allowed Junichi to grasp a hint of the feeling.
He slowly opened his eyes, his gaze distant.
"Don't rush. Observation Haki training is slower than Armament Haki." Rayleigh misunderstood and consoled him. "Many people grasp Armament Haki, yet only grasp Observation Haki more than a decade later."
As he spoke, he turned and walked outside.
"I'll continue fishing. Take your time training."
After saying that, Rayleigh left without concern.
From observing him for the past ten minutes, he had already confirmed that Junichi was having difficulties.
The boy found it hard to relax.
Now this is normal, Rayleigh nodded inwardly. If he mastered Observation Haki in three minutes too, I'd really be scared to death.
He let out a breath, feeling that his worldview had been preserved.
With light steps, he walked into the seawater.
On the small island,
Junichi paid no attention to Rayleigh's words. He knew that training Observation Haki was even harder than training Armament Haki.
Many powerful people
might have reached an extremely high level in Armament Haki, while their Observation Haki still remained at the beginner level.
But he was different.
He had cheats!
"That feeling just now..." Junichi frowned, recalling the subtle state he had entered when his proficiency increased by one.
He sank into thought.
A light, carefree relaxation did not suit him.
But was "light, carefree relaxation" really the only path to Observation Haki?
Not necessarily!
If it were, his proficiency would not have increased by one.
Relaxation was an innate instinct.
Some simple-minded people could relax naturally, like Luffy.
But others had more complicated experiences and might need particular conditions to soothe their minds.
"When would I feel relaxed?"
Junichi thought about it, but quickly shook his head. "No, I should be asking: under what circumstances would I be willing to accept all the information around me?"
The moment that thought arose,
it was as if he had broken through some barrier. A flash of inspiration burst forth in his mind.
"Embrace?"
"Conquer?"
"No, experience!"
Junichi's thoughts raced, and in an instant, he understood the desire deep in his heart.
As a transmigrator who had lived two lives and gained a cheat, what he desired most was to experience all kinds of wonderful adventures.
From that perspective,
when Junichi looked upon the endless worlds, he saw one enormous playground after another.
He wanted to enter them and experience their stories.
"To me, Weasel is also a game—just a dangerous one." Junichi instantly understood, and his heart opened up.
He had thought it through completely.
And at the very instant he did, his mind naturally relaxed.
Everything around him was accepted by him.

Notifications flashed wildly across the panel.
His Observation Haki training progress advanced by leaps and bounds!
