Negotiations and Self-Reflection

Alvin didn't rashly agree to Alfred's request.

Whether they could work together depended on what the Demon Hunters themselves wanted.

But the fact that old Alfred had visited the Continental Hotel was enough to make Alvin look at him in a new light!

When Alvin had pulled John Wick out of there, he'd learned a bit about the hotel.

The fact that this elegant old man had been able to inspect the Continental Hotel meant he had considerable influence.

Even the currency used at this members-only hotel for assassins had been designed and issued by the hotel itself.

If Alfred was interested in that sort of thing, it meant the Waldorf Hotel had very ambitious plans for the future.

That wasn't a bad thing. It just meant the Demon Hunters Guild needed to negotiate on its own behalf, so those hard-up Demon Hunters could get the best deal possible.

Alvin didn't think he should get involved. Anything he said could become an important point of reference for both sides, and that wouldn't be good...

Alfred was representing the Waldorf Hotel and constantly trying to get on Alvin's good side. More than anything, he wanted a dependable patron, while also hoping to gain the upper hand when dealing with the Demon Hunters.

Businesspeople never acted without a profit motive. But shrewd old Alfred had a way of doing everything so graciously that it was hard to feel any resentment toward him.

After thinking it over, Alvin looked at Alfred's calm expression and smiled. "You should work it out between yourselves. I'm sure you can come up with a suitable offer to attract those hard-up Demon Hunters!

"I'll call Shang-Chi and ask him to pass the word along. Whether this works out or not, let's make sure everyone stays on good terms!"
