The Principal Wasn't Happy
The moment he arrived at school, Alvin ran into Professor Cage, putting him in a thoroughly foul mood.
And when Alvin was in a bad mood, the students were the ones who suffered.
What were they doing holding hands during school hours? Separate! What? Freedom to date? I went through twelve years of school without ever dating anyone, so what gave them the right to date? Separate! Otherwise, they'd all be locked in the little dark room! This was outrageous! From first grade to twelfth grade, dating was forbidden at this school. They'd be better off spending that time doing more practice papers.
Sensing trouble, Nelson quickly found an excuse and slipped away. He knew Alvin was in a bad mood, and he certainly didn't want to become collateral damage.
What were they hopping around for? Fooling around by the stairs—what if they fell to their deaths? Get back to the classroom and study.
Spitting on the floor? Who gave them the nerve? Go to the storage room, get a mop, and mop the entire hallway clean! What? They hadn't dirtied the other areas? Idiots, then mop two floors! This was punishment, didn't they know that?
And them—a bunch of girls, what were they doing painting themselves up like that? Get to the restroom and wash it all off before coming back out! Crying? Useless. Hurry up and wash it off. And tomorrow, dye their hair back to its original color. If he saw any more weird colors, he'd have JJ shave it all off. Why were they still standing there? Get lost!
By the time he had turned the school upside down, Alvin had vented most of his temper. Seeing his office ahead of him, he decided to go in and rest for a while.
As the head of the school, his office was fairly spacious. It was divided into an inner and outer room, with the principal's secretary's desk in the outer room.
When Alvin pushed open the door, a plump middle-aged Black woman in a white floral dress was applying makeup in a small mirror. The moment she saw him enter, she rushed over, hugged him, and showered him with kisses.
"Oh, Olivia, you're too enthusiastic. I think you've gotten prettier again today. What's your secret? I should go back and teach my waiter—he still doesn't know much about dressing himself up." Alvin gently pushed the Black woman away and joked.
Olivia let out a warm "Oh-ho-ho" laugh and said, "Alvin, you really know how to talk. It would be wonderful if you came here to work every day. I heard that old bastard Cage came to give you trouble again today? Don't be afraid. Let me deal with him next time. His wife, Mrs. Cage, is my good friend now. I can make him suffer a little when he gets home!"
Alvin shuddered. If old man Cage found out that he had been setting him up behind his back, how could he possibly live in peace? He hurriedly stopped Olivia's terrible idea and asked, "Is there anything going on today?" As he spoke, he walked toward his office.
Sitting in his luxurious executive chair with one leg crossed over the other, he listened to Olivia's report.
"Several parents called to complain that their children had been abused and wanted the school to change its schedule. Some people also called and cursed a lot. The Department of Education called and said they had received reports and would be coming here for an inspection."
After finishing, Olivia smiled proudly at Alvin. "I cursed back everyone who called to complain or insult us. As for the Department of Education, I handed that over to Nelson."
Alvin nodded in satisfaction and said with a smile, "Well done, Olivia. I knew you'd be a great help."
"Oh, Professor Wilson came looking for you. He said to notify him when you arrived. Do you want me to let him know?" Olivia asked.
Alvin nodded. Professor Wilson was a steady man who would not come looking for him without a reason. He gestured for Olivia to go notify Professor Wilson, then propped his feet on the desk and began thinking about where he could get some money.
This school was truly a money-devouring machine. The funding from the Department of Education, plus the five million he had begged from Kingpin, was nowhere near enough.
Loans were not a reliable path. In his previous life, as an ordinary Chinese citizen, he had never had the habit of borrowing money to spend.
Alvin had done some research after coming to this world. Of the rich people he knew or had heard of, there were only two. One was the playboy currently busy having fun and chasing women, Tony Stark. The other was Norman Osborn of Oscorp.
One was Iron Man, the other Green Goblin. They were the only two super-rich people Alvin knew of. But how could he squeeze money out of them?
They were both super-rich tycoons. Alvin, the owner of a restaurant in Hell's Kitchen, had no way of getting close to either of them.
Alvin was annoyed. The only superhero he knew in this world was Matt Murdock, Daredevil, but he was a standard poor bastard. Every month, he would come with Fudge for a few days to mooch off Alvin. Making money from him was out of the question.
Just as his headache was getting worse, Olivia brought Professor Wilson in.
Professor Wilson was a handsome old man nearing seventy. Many of the female teachers at school were crazy about him. Whenever Alvin saw him, he was reminded of Sean Connery, the Hollywood star from his previous life. The old man only became more handsome with age.
Alvin stood up, invited Professor Wilson to sit on the sofa, and told Olivia to pour two cups of coffee. Then he asked, "Professor, what brings you here? Please don't tell me it's about money. Professor Cage is driving me insane."
Professor Wilson smiled at the frazzled Alvin. "Don't worry, I'm not here to ask for money. Recently, I found a strange little girl outside the school. She may be an illegal immigrant, and I wanted her to attend school here. I don't want to see a four- or five-year-old girl wandering around dangerous Hell's Kitchen. It's far too dangerous for her."
Hearing that it was only about admitting a little girl to the school, Alvin breathed a sigh of relief. As long as it wasn't about money. Before Professor Wilson could finish, he smiled and said, "No problem. Let her come. I'll have Nelson handle her enrollment. As for her identity, I can ask Michael to think of something."
Professor Wilson smiled and waved his hand. "I've already resolved her identity issue, and she's already attended classes for two days. I came to see you about something else." He looked at Alvin with a smile and said nothing more.
Alvin suddenly had a bad feeling. This little girl might not be so simple. He did not dare respond to Professor Wilson's words. He merely narrowed his eyes and looked at him, waiting to see what he would say.
Professor Wilson was not a shameless old rogue like Professor Cage. Looking somewhat embarrassed, he said, "My wife and I completed the adoption procedures and adopted this little girl, but we discovered that we simply don't have enough energy. There is too much work at the school. We realized that we have no way to take proper care of her, so I hope you can take care of this child in our place, Alvin. She's wonderful. I gave her a name—Jinny Ye." He stood up, bowed slightly, and solemnly said, "I hope you can adopt her."
When Alvin heard that Professor Wilson had already named the child Jinny Ye, with the same surname as Alvin, Ye, he knew the old man had to have done it on purpose. Claiming otherwise would be an insult to his intelligence.
He suppressed the urge to punch Professor Wilson's nose crooked. Considering that the old man and his wife had devoted themselves so wholeheartedly to the school, he endured it.
With great reluctance, he agreed to Professor Wilson's request. He promised to take Jinny Ye home after school.
Seeing that his business was finished, the old professor stood, straightened his collar, nodded to Alvin, and returned to work.
Allow me a little indulgence. I originally had not planned to include X-Men characters. But after recently watching Wolverine 3, the warmth between the little girl X-23, Laura Kinney, and old Wolverine left a deep impression on me. I simply liked the character of X-23 too much. So let her make a cameo. No other X-Men characters will appear later.
