Chapter 1240: Proof
Alvin rested his head on one hand as he watched the group of alien visitors argue their way through a plan, telling it all out of order.
Little Ginny brought Groot a huge bundle of celery. Watching the Tree Person eat it with such relish, the curious little girl took a bite of a big stalk herself. Then she stuck out her tongue and looked at Alvin miserably. "Dad, I got a bad piece of celery..."
Alvin smiled as he handed Little Ginny a glass of juice. "Then you've had terrible luck. Look how much he likes it..."
As he spoke, Alvin picked out a juicy-looking stalk and put it in the little carnivore's hand. Smiling, he said, "Try another. We'll find a good one eventually.
"If you want to make friends, you should at least learn what they like to eat!"
Little Ginny held the celery under her nose and sniffed it. Then she glanced at Groot, who was stuffing his mouth with half a bundle in one hand. Wrinkling her nose, she took a big bite and chewed hard before swallowing with some difficulty...
Looking at the half-stalk left in her hand, Little Ginny grimaced and hesitated. She gave Alvin a silly smile, held out the celery, and said, "Dad, you eat it..."
Alvin watched as carnivorous Ginny seemed to forget all about him and tried to change Groot's tastes with little chunks of beef and Spicy Strips. He sighed and took a bite of the celery she'd offered him.
After failing to trick Little Ginny into eating vegetables, Alvin helplessly finished the celery in a few bites, pretending it tasted pretty good in an attempt to show the little girl the appeal of vegetables.
