Gaining Peace
While the battle aboveground was raging, Alvin and the others underground had already wrapped things up.
The Flying Swords cleared the area, then the Golden Vine drained the Black Witch of her energy and spirit...
Alvin roughly yanked the Black Witch, battered and torn, out of the dead tree. Then the Golden Vine took her place, nourishing the developing Flies and keeping them quiet.
It was an extremely risky move, but the results were pretty good!
Alvin clearly sensed that the Golden Vine had established a connection with countless Plague Flies through the dead tree's branches. Threads of mental energy passed through the tree and turned into Witch Power that nourished the Plague Flies, linking them together.
With his eyes closed, Alvin sensed the image in his mind—one that would make anyone with trypophobia throw up. To his surprise, he found that the mature Plague Flies were feeding the dead tree in return.
Maybe once all those damn Plague Flies had matured, the Golden Vine could simply keep sucking until it drained the disgusting things dry.
That would save Norman Osborn the trouble of spending a huge amount of effort making insecticide that could only be used once...
Dominic walked over to the Black Witch, who was barely clinging to life. He plunged his hand into her chest and forcefully pulled out a heart that was still beating.
Gisele glanced at Alvin, who was watching coldly. She snorted, then went over to Dominic and asked, "What are you going to do?"
