It was like a good friend buying an imported luxury car, only for you to suddenly discover that someone in your social circle ran a business dealing in those cars at a particular port.
What had started as a perfectly fair deal had suddenly turned into a losing proposition. Who could you even complain to about that?

After all, Alvin had been an unexpected factor for him. Nemo II was the only one in their circle who truly understood the technology; Professor Wilson and the others probably hadn't expected Nautilus II to be taking shape.
Rather than sit here feeling miserable and end up making Professor Wilson feel guilty, he was better off putting it behind him and talking things over with Alvin. Maybe they could figure out how to improve Nautilus II even further.
