Lennox and Hawkeye led the Avengers out of the jungle.
Seeing how battered they looked, Alvin realized the situation really wasn't as simple as he'd thought.
He'd known that Peru might have a serious problem, but he hadn't expected it to be this bad.
Nearly all sixty Avengers were wounded. Their injuries weren't serious, but they were all wearing equipment worth millions of dollars.
Sniper Bob Lee Swagger had two broken ribs. If he hadn't been wearing armor, the Xenomorph would probably have ripped his heart out.
When Lennox saw Alvin arrive, he breathed a small sigh of relief. He first told the others to get their wounds bandaged, then walked over to Alvin with Hawkeye.
"How did this happen? Are Xenomorphs even harder to deal with than aliens?"
Lennox shook his head helplessly. "The jungle terrain is too complicated. I used pheromones to lure the Xenomorphs in, but they arrived at different times.
"We burned a firebreak, then set traps in the center. We wanted to hold out a little longer and kill more of them, but there were far more Xenomorphs than we'd estimated."
As he spoke, Lennox looked toward the distant mountains and said helplessly, "There were a lot of living people in there, too. We had no idea.
"Most of them became food for the Xenomorphs..."
Alvin frowned. "That can't be right. Apart from the indigenous people, who would live in there?
"That's all my land. How could a large group of people live there for so long without anyone finding out?"
"Drug dealers!"
Beckford pushed out Alina, whose face was flushed. In a good mood, he spread his hands at Alvin. "Alexei broke up half the gangs in Peru, but the drug dealers are still around.
"They retreated into the mountains, growing coca in hidden
