Sloane was a very interesting person in Alvin's eyes. In a way, he had even more guts than Cross, Wesley's old man.

Alvin had been expecting Sloane to come by, and he was very pleased with how efficiently the Assassins League had operated the night before.

They'd covered half of California in a single night, taking out dozens of major players in criminal networks. Sloane had shown Alvin the strength of the Assassins League, while also making it clear just how powerful their enemies were.

Stark had no interest in dealing with a head of assassins. He left the living room to Alvin and hurried upstairs to get to work. His priorities were sending those damn politicians where they belonged, then hunting down that gang of con-artist thieves.

Alvin saw Sloane eyeing Colonel Rhodes suspiciously and chuckled. "I've always been aboveboard. If we're really going after bad guys, there's nothing we can't talk about.

"Rhodey's one of Stark's choices for best man, and I'm happy to trust him."

As he spoke, Alvin went behind the counter of the small bar and pulled out a bottle of whiskey and a few glasses...

After pouring everyone a glass, Alvin gestured for them to help themselves. Then he took a sip from his own glass and sat down on the couch, waiting for Sloane to tell him about the "Assassin's Creed."

Fox already had a Demigod family. Adding the Assassins League wasn't a big deal, but if "Assassin's Creed" got added to the mix too, the girl would have too much on her plate. Just hearing those organizations' names made them sound like trouble.

Sloane was a little surprised by how at ease Alvin was with him. After all, he'd only met Alvin once, and it hadn't been a friendly encounter.
