After Shuri was pulled away, Alvin looked at the few people around him and spread his hands with a smile. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
April gave Alvin a strange look. "Do you really know who attacked T'Challa?
"From what you've said, you don't seem to think there's anything wrong with T'Challa being attacked.
"Under T'Challa's leadership, Wakanda has shown a tremendous sense of responsibility, and millions of people in Africa have benefited..."
Alvin waved a hand, amused. "Look, lady, isn't it a little strange to discuss a sense of justice with someone from Hell's Kitchen?
"I understand what you mean, and I support you speaking up for them, but what does that have to do with me?
"Am I supposed to go and see that justice is done for them?
"Once politics gets involved, everything turns into a mess. You can't tell who's right and who's wrong.
"Unless T'Challa chooses to report it to the police, getting involved in this kind of thing means taking a side.
"I can take Shuri around to a few places and get the Allied Forces to rein themselves in a little.
"But if I step in and pick a side, it's hard to say whether the consequences will be good or bad for Wakanda."
Alvin shook his head with a smile. "I can be a little selfish when it comes to my own people, because my family and friends will definitely stand by me, and they'll be willing to share the pressure with me.
"But Wakanda is a country. Any single action I take could be opposed by half its people.
"Lady, I don't need to please anyone, and I certainly don't need to play peacemaker."
After hearing him out, April knew Alvin had already made up his mind.
