Alvin had no idea what had happened in the basketball gym, and even if he had, there was nothing he could do about it.

Standing on the Speaker's Platform at the Stadium, Fox watched little Ginny, wearing a baggy school uniform, lead a group of newly enrolled little kids past in a chaotic imitation of a military march.

Fox glanced at the wealthy parents below, who were whispering among themselves. Then she looked curiously at Alvin and asked, "What's wrong with them? Did something happen in the basketball gym?"

Alvin tugged at his tie, which seemed liable to choke him at any moment, and said nonchalantly, "Who knows? Maybe they're stunned by their kids' spirit. Maybe they've never seen their kids this full of energy...

"I knew there was nothing wrong with our school. You care a little too much about those people. We're the top school around here. Whatever their status, they should be the ones begging us."

Alvin adjusted his overly tight shirt and said to Fox, "You'd better be careful. A few women were just checking me out. You've dressed me up too well.

"People at our school have a history of seducing others. Male teachers have a hard time keeping their hands to themselves around students' parents.
