Ling Suo stared wide-eyed at Alvin, whose ambitions knew no bounds. She asked in disbelief, "Do you even know what you're saying?"
Alvin shrugged as if it were obvious. "I'm talking to you about killing people. What, do you have a different opinion?"
Ling Suo rolled her eyes for what had to be the umpteenth time that day and said helplessly, "'Death' is one of the Five Cosmic Entities. If my master and his companions could seal away those Creator Gods, why do you think they didn't kill them?"
Alvin paused. "Maybe they went soft. How much trouble have all those Deities on Earth caused? They're all problems those guys left behind. Wouldn't it have been much simpler to kill them all back then?"
Ling Suo looked at the unreasonable, short-tempered Alvin and said helplessly, "The others can be killed, but the Five Great Beings cannot.
"They embody the ultimate forces of the universe. The death of even one would throw the universe into immense turmoil. If the Solar System happened to be caught in the upheaval, what do you think would happen?
"And are you sure you could withstand the backlash unleashed by the universe after a Supreme God died?"
As she spoke, Ling Suo looked at Alvin, who was clearly unconvinced, and said with some frustration, "Alvin, killing Deities and sealing Supreme Gods were bargaining chips my master fought to secure.
"They established a relative balance with the universe, restricting conflict to the level of natural selection.
"The Five Supreme Gods are the universe's 'balls.' If you cut them off, what do you think will happen?
"In the end, we're still creatures of the universe. We can't transcend it.
"Keeping conflict within certain bounds is humanity's only way forward.
"'Death' can only make a little trouble. It can
