I'm Not a Bad Person, Really!
Hearing Alvin's threat, Black Bear felt uncertain and alarmed. He knew his boss was indeed going to rest at his Long Island villa today, but the fact that Alvin knew it too was terrifying.
Trembling, he pulled out his phone and called his boss.
Considerately, Alvin took the phone, turned on speakerphone, and held it up to Black Bear's face.
"This is Jansen!" A greasy, slick voice came through.
"Boss, it's Black Bear," Black Bear said hoarsely.
"Oh~ What happened to your voice? Did those nightclub girls drain you dry? Hahaha!"
"Boss, are you at your Long Island villa... taking a bath?" Black Bear asked cautiously.
"Do I need to report to you every time I take a fucking bath? Black Bear, have you lost your mind?"
"No, Boss. You remember I came to negotiate with Alvin from Hell's Kitchen today, right? I told you about it.
He was the one who told me everything about you," Black Bear said anxiously.
The other end of the line fell silent for a moment, as if Jansen were speaking to someone beside him.
"What exactly is going on?" the voice on the phone asked grimly.
"It's Alvin. He called me over to negotiate. He wants us to drive out every one of his students and all minors connected to our gang."
"Ha! Who the hell does he think he is? Even Big Apple City's mayor wouldn't dare say that to me! Black Bear, are you mentally disabled? Kill him, or who'll be afraid of us after this?"
Black Bear fell silent for a moment before saying quietly, "Boss, all my men are finished!
I only called because Alvin knows where you are and what you're doing. I'm worried—"
Before Black Bear could finish, gunfire rang out from the other end. It was faint at first, then gradually became clearer, dense bursts of gunfire pouring through the phone.
Black Bear looked at Alvin in terror and cried out desperately, "You haven't even talked to my boss yet! This isn't following the rules! We can still negotiate!"
Alvin found it strange too. He had planned to have Crow teach Bloody Jansen a lesson if the negotiations went badly. But what was with the gunfire over the phone? Something was clearly wrong.
He turned to look at JJ, only to find him staring back with wounded resentment. "Boss, you could've sent me. There was no need to find someone else!" It was as though Alvin had secretly gone and found himself a mistress.
Alvin stood up and kicked JJ. "What the fuck is going on?"
Black Bear dragged his noodle-like legs across the ground like a fat maggot, writhing as he howled in despair. "Alvin, Boss, you can't do this! We haven't finished negotiating! We agree to your demands! Stop it, stop it now!"
Alvin ignored Black Bear and contacted Crow again. Then he saw a deranged idiot with a target tattooed on his head, cradling a machine gun as he slaughtered everyone in Bloody Jansen's villa.
Now he understood. That dead fatso Kingpin had sent someone to do it! There probably wouldn't be anyone left alive over there!
With that, Black Bear was no longer useful. Alvin gestured for JJ to knock him out and spare him some suffering.
Alvin took out his phone and called community police officer Michael.
"Hello, Michael. It's Alvin."
"Yes, I'm reporting a crime. A group of thugs tried to attack my pets and got scratched up by them. You'll need to send me a few ambulances."
"Of course. What ambulance would dare come to Hell's Kitchen at this hour? I could only call you."
"Trouble? No trouble. I've reached an agreement with them. I believe these guys won't come looking for trouble again."
"I suggest you hurry. Big Apple City's ambulances might be very busy today."
As Alvin stood by the roadside waiting for the ambulances, a long-nosed school bus drove over from the distance.
Alvin checked his watch. It was nine o'clock; the older students had finished their evening study session.
The bus stopped in front of the restaurant. When the door opened, Jiawen stepped down and cautiously looked over the burly men sprawled all over the ground. From a distance, he gave Alvin a deep bow and called out, "Good evening, Principal!" Then he darted into the apartment building across the street.
The driver looked like a Mexican serial killer. Grinning like a deranged freak ready to eat someone, he called to Alvin through the open bus door, "Need a hand?"
Alvin looked at the children of all ages pressed against the windows, staring at the horrific scene with a mixture of fear and admiration in their eyes.
He waved the ugly driver away. The driver answered with a strange laugh, shut the door, honked twice, then turned around and gave the kids on the bus a sinister "hehehe" grin before driving off.
Listening to the children's screams from inside the bus even as it drove away, Alvin shook his head. Who would believe that driver, with his vicious appearance, was too scared to even kill a chicken? The Remington beneath his windshield had never contained a single bullet.
Alvin had hired the man as a school bus driver according to his own standards.
Drivers at other schools were kindly middle-aged men. At the Hell's Kitchen community school, the only hiring requirement for drivers was that they had to look like hardened criminals. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to keep the Hell's Kitchen brats and street punks in line.
This guy was an exception. Though he wasn't particularly brave, he had the face of a deranged serial killer.
Alvin had made an exception and hired him. The route he drove was also the most dangerous one in Hell's Kitchen.
His name was Dominguez Wag, a Mexican illegal immigrant.
After waiting a while longer, four ambulances arrived in front of Alvin under the escort of a police car.
Michael and Scott got out first to inspect the scene. They found that aside from Black Bear, who looked rather miserable, everyone else was doing fairly well. At the very least, no one had lost their life.
In a place like Hell's Kitchen, injuries like theirs were nothing serious.
Letting out a breath of relief, Michael called for the doctors and orderlies in the ambulances to get out and begin their work.
A hot-bodied Black nurse in uniform flirted shamelessly with JJ as she worked, not caring in the slightest whether the gangsters on the ground lived or died.
She merely briskly directed the broad-shouldered orderlies to carry them into the ambulances like livestock.
"Hey, Temple, why don't you just get a room with JJ? I'll reimburse this bastard for the hotel bill. Next time, don't fool around in my storage room. I have a daughter now, so you little bitches better watch yourselves."
The sexy nurse, Temple, gave Alvin the middle finger, blew JJ a kiss, then made a phone gesture before following the ambulance away with its siren blaring.
Michael and Scott nodded to Alvin in greeting, then drove off to escort the ambulances to the hospital.
JJ stood beside Alvin, his hesitant expression making Alvin uncomfortable. Faced with the man's strange look, Alvin said impatiently, "What is it?"
After twisting about awkwardly for a moment, JJ said, "Boss, do you have someone else out there?"
What kind of question was that? What did he mean, someone else? Why was this burly man asking a strong, handsome young man like him whether he had someone else outside?
Alvin kicked JJ in the thigh, then gave him the middle finger. "Speak properly, or I'll make you suffer."
JJ didn't get angry after being kicked. He patted the dust off his leg and said cautiously, "Boss, for things like this, you can order me to handle them. You really don't need to find other people outside. Those people might not be reliable."
Alvin shook his head helplessly. "What happened over there wasn't my doing. Kingpin did it."
JJ said nothing, merely looking at Alvin with an infuriating expression that said, You can't fool me, old man.
Faced with such baseless injustice, Alvin said helplessly, "I wouldn't do something like wiping out an entire family. Really!"
