Coming Home
When Alvin stepped off the plane at a private airport in New York,
he saw a little girl in work jeans sprinting toward him from a long way off. When she was just a few feet away, she leaped at him.
Alvin hurried forward and caught the little bundle of sweetness. He let little Ginny rub his face as hard as she liked, venting her displeasure.
"Bad Daddy. You went out and didn't take Ginny." Little Ginny was finally starting to speak a little better. Nick must have had something to do with it.
Alvin laughed like a kindly old father and kissed Ginny's cheek. The little girl was satisfied with his apology. She cupped his face in both hands and kissed him on the nose.
That was enough to make her happy. My daughter really does love her daddy best!
As JJ and Jessica ran over to greet him, Alvin embraced them warmly. Seeing the slight reproach in Jessica's eyes, he gave her a tight hug and teased loudly, "Oh, our lovely Jessica, why have you put on weight again?"
After Jessica punched him hard, Alvin rubbed her head, feeling refreshed. "Thanks!"
Jessica had been angry a moment ago, but now she was beaming. She clung to one of Alvin's arms and complained about Nick's mischief, while Ginny nodded solemnly on his other side. When Alvin praised Ginny for being so well-behaved, the little girl shyly covered her face.
The two girls were on the same side now, and naughty Nick had been having a pretty rough time at home lately.
With both hands occupied, Alvin nodded at JJ and asked, "How's everything at home?"
