Alvin changed clothes, gathered little Ginny in his arms, and met up with Stark, who had been eager to sneak out for ages. They left the hospital through a secret passage.
As for why there was a secret passage in the hospital, Alvin figured it was better not to know.
The unlucky bodyguard, Brian, stayed behind at the hospital with his men, at least giving some people the impression that Stark was still there recovering.
The poor guy had been kidnapped and forced to take part in a robbery, then had his professionalism questioned by his own boss for wearing an "advertising outfit." If Alvin hadn't spoken up for him, they might have been fired.
The two engaged couples and one little girl made their way through the passage and climbed into an unassuming Ford pickup in an alley.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Alvin watched Stark in the passenger seat laughing and teasing little Ginny. "Where are we going? We can't go to my restaurant, obviously. There isn't room for all of you.
"Unless Hela's willing to let you into her room, there's nowhere for you to sleep at my place."
Stark gave Alvin a disdainful look, then lowered his head and rested his chin against Ginny's forehead. "Look at your dad. This poor guy doesn't even have a decent house.
"What kind of house does my little angel want? How about a castle?"
Ginny grinned and nodded foolishly. "As long as Dad's in it.
"Actually, I don't like castles. I like the sewers. Leonardo and the others are there."
Stark shook his head helplessly, pretended to bite Ginny's cheek, and said sternly, "Every girl should have a castle. Stop thinking about the school sewers. They're awful!"
Then Stark looked at Alvin, who was watching him with raised brows
