Wrapping Things Up

Alvin smiled and greeted the few wounded men. He wasn't too worried about how the fight inside the building was going.

A bunch of robots facing an eager Tony Stark would end up destroyed. Alvin couldn't think of any other possible outcome for them.

Alvin didn't know why those guys—including a few of the boys—had charged in. In terrain like this, the best option was to hold position outside and wait for a helicopter to bring in powerful bombs to deal with the threat.

After listening for a while to the loud gunfire echoing through the building, Alvin reached out and caught an unlucky guy whose head was lolling. A quick look told him the man had probably been knocked unconscious.

Peter carried one of the Emergency Squad soldiers nimbly to the entrance, dropped him on the ground, and prepared to rush back inside.

Frank, his face dark, grabbed Peter by the neck and landed a heavy punch beneath his arm, making Peter cry out in pain.

Frank shoved Peter, clutching his side, toward a corner, then glanced at Alvin. "I'm going to deal with those things. You go get Harry and the Little Turtles out."

Then Frank glared at his former trainee, Ripcord, and said in a low voice, "You're so stupid, it's embarrassing me!"

Ripcord looked at Frank's stern expression and muttered something, but didn't dare talk back. He also didn't think there was any point in saying more. Everyone had chosen to risk their lives for the sake of their friendship.

Murphy was his comrade and colleague. How could he stand by and watch him go in there alone?
