While Alvin was eating and chatting with Bill, Old Cage came over at some point.

The respected old professor circled Alvin once, rudely shooed Coach Bill aside, then sat down across from Alvin and said gruffly, "You bastard, you finally showed up. I thought I wouldn't see you until the students graduated."

Alvin chuckled twice and repeatedly clasped his hands toward the unapologetic Old Cage. "Hey, I was saving the world!"

Then Alvin turned to Coach Bill. "Go talk it over with Steve. If we're going to give those kids a chance, we shouldn't handle it too hastily!"

Coach Bill glanced at Old Cage's displeased expression, nodded to the grinning Alvin, then left.

Watching Bill walk away, Old Cage glared at Alvin. "Finished eating? If you are, let's go to Nelson's office together. We need to arrange the school schedule for the next month."

Alvin nodded repeatedly, helplessly. He was indeed in the wrong. He really didn't spend much time at the school, and the old man in front of him really was impressive. He was a treasure Alvin had to keep happy. Otherwise, with only the teachers they'd hired and the slippery Vice Principal Nelson, the school would never have made it this far.

Old Cage was satisfied with Alvin's meek response. He stood, beckoned him over, then strolled around the cafeteria with his hands behind his back like an aging lion, swaggering toward the School Building.

Alvin smacked the heads of a few little brats who jeered at him along the way. Then, standing at the cafeteria entrance, he pointed at his eyes and then at all the kids watching, giving them a look that said, "I've got my eye on you." Only then did he hurry after Old Cage toward the School Building.
