When Alvin took Frank's place, a chorus of boos spread across the entire school.
Bare-chested, Alvin turned toward the source of the boos and gave them both thumbs down in a fierce taunt. Unfortunately, the gesture only earned him even louder jeers.
Alvin was plenty strong. At 193 centimeters tall, with broad shoulders and a well-developed chest, he might not have had an eight-pack, but he was still a big, muscular man.
Unfortunately, his overly fair skin cost him a lot of points. It only strengthened his resolve to get a bronze tan over the summer.
With the whole crowd booing him, Alvin made a throat-slashing gesture at the players itching for a chance and laughed. "I'll make you regret this. I'm sending every last one of you to the Detention Room..."
Alvin's joking taunt made it clear to everyone that this was just a game—a Revelry to make it up to the Wolves, and perhaps the whole school as well.
It was an idea Alvin had come up with on the spot. It would give the kids, who'd be cut off from entertainment for the next month, a bit of fun. It would also save the players from spending two days in the Detention Room after their own assistant coach had set them up.
Once everyone caught on, the voting in the school building picked up. The little troublemakers who loved to stir things up quickly chose a few popular teachers to come out and experience the Wolves' enthusiasm up close.
A pretty, middle-aged teacher wore her helmet askew, muttering to herself as she crossed herself. Amused, Alvin pointed at his eyes, then at the heads peeking out of the school building's windows, signaling, I've got my eye on you!
