Kids and Gifts

Alvin high-fived the kids who had come ashore to celebrate, then hopped onto the backs of the two Megalodons in turn and kicked them in the gills.

That was the core of the shark controller. The components pressed against either side of their gills kept these terrifying beasts from opening their mouths.

Electric shocks delivered to just the right spots kept the Megalodons' jaws firmly shut.

That was why Alvin had felt comfortable letting the kids drive them on their own earlier. Even if something went wrong, it would only result in a few bumps and scrapes—nothing those tough kids couldn't handle.

Finally free, the Megalodons restlessly opened their mouths and took a few bites at the edge of the dock. After Alvin punched them twice on the nose, they obediently went to join their kind, eager to pick a fight with the Mosasaurus.

Frank got along well with Carter Black. He waved to Alvin, then rode his Megalodon over near the enclosure to back Carter Black up.

The shark expert seemed to be enjoying himself. Like a warrior astride a warhorse, he kept urging his mount to charge the enemy.

Under Carter Black's control, the Megalodon grew even more aggressive than usual. At first, it had merely swum alongside the Mosasaurus on the other side of the fence. Now it kept opening its jaws to bite the fence, as if it couldn't wait to get inside and tear into its opponent until one of them was dead.

The two Megalodons that had come to help began joining their kind in putting pressure on the Mosasaurus.

Perhaps out of hunting instinct, these not-so-bright creatures spread out like a wolf pack. Wherever the Mosasaurus went, a Megalodon would be waiting, ramming the fence and trying to bite the unfortunate loner.
