Ch. 1341New Necromancer Goddess
Plot points and events
- Alvin presents Hela with a new staff, made by fusing her old staff with the remnants of the Eternal Flame. It grants powerful Necromancer abilities, including level-20 Bone Armor, Bone Spear, Skeleton summons, and Rebirth.
- Hela tests the staff and manifests a deadly Bone Sword. Alvin warns her about its danger, but supports her decision to return to Asgard and fight for her homeland.
- Hela says goodbye to Ginny, promising to bring her a pet. Ginny insists that her existing menagerie is already full of beloved friends.
- Hela attempts to summon Heimdall through the Bifrost, mispronounces his name twice, and is transported away after Alvin corrects her.
- Alvin and Ginny watch the ongoing fight outside. Steve is struggling against Gisele, and Alvin distracts her long enough for Steve to retreat. Natasha and Elektra arrive and attack Steve, but JJ returns with Steve’s shield, urging him to fight back on Hell’s Kitchen terms.
Character developments and interactions
- Hela gains a major increase in power, but understands that the staff’s strength depends on her rather than granting unlimited power. She remains committed to returning home, while showing affection toward Ginny.
- Alvin gives Hela the staff out of friendship and respect for her choice, confident he will help if danger arises. His teasing, protective manner is also evident in his banter with Ginny and Steve.
- Ginny shows her fondness for her unusual animal companions, defending them when Hela calls them ugly.
- Steve is worn down by the prolonged fight and repeatedly tries to escape, while Gisele, Natasha, Elektra, and JJ keep the pressure on him. JJ’s return with the shield gives Steve a chance to regroup.
Significant themes
- Power and responsibility: The staff makes Hela exceptionally dangerous, but her own skill—and vulnerabilities—still matter.
- Loyalty and choice: Alvin supports Hela’s decision to defend Asgard rather than trying to control her fate.
- Found family and acceptance: Ginny’s affection for her strange companions contrasts with Hela’s more conventional idea of cute pets.
- Humor amid danger: Mispronounced names, Alvin’s heckling, and the chaotic fight provide comedy alongside the story’s high stakes.
