A Transmigrator's Daily Life
The next day, the sun rose as usual.
Hyuga Yuto got up early. Young shinobi his age would usually rest for a few days after returning to the village from a mission, enjoying the peaceful days in the Hidden Leaf Village.
But Yuto was already out of bed before dawn. After washing up, he grabbed a small pouch of rations and left the clan compound alone, heading for the dense woods outside the shinobi village.
Following the familiar route, he arrived at his secret training ground—a clearing surrounded by dozens of towering trees.
The clearing was small and secluded. A careful look would reveal that the ground there was incredibly hard, almost like stone.
Yuto took a box from beneath one of the trees and removed its contents: excessively heavy wrist guards and plate armor, a specially made dummy marked with acupuncture points and meridian diagrams, sealed drinking water, emergency bandages, hemostatic medicine...
He put on the heavy protective gear, fastening metal blocks to every finger as well. After taking several deep breaths, he began training in the forest.
Stepping, punching, activating the Byakugan—every use of the Gentle Fist was meticulous. Coordinating chakra with physical movement was a profound discipline. During training, if his strike landed even slightly off target, even by a single millimeter, Yuto would punish himself expressionlessly by repeating the movement a hundred times.
Over the years, the soft soil of this narrow patch of forest had been trampled by him until it was harder than rock.
How had a young Hyuga branch family member who had lost both parents earned the fine name of "Hyuga's Jade"? There was no secret to it—just four words: perseverance to the end.
Every drop of sweat and every punch brought him one step closer to becoming stronger.
A clumsy method was still a method.
Yet even so, Yuto could clearly feel that his progress had been slowing more and more lately.
At the secret training ground, Yuto suddenly sprang forward, swooping at the dummy like a bird. His hands moved so fast they nearly became a blur, destroying sixteen major acupuncture points across the dummy's chest and abdomen in a flash.
After landing, Yuto examined the dummy and silently sighed.
Of the sixteen holes in the dummy, only three had pierced straight through. The other thirteen had failed to penetrate its thick armor.
—His finger strength and grip were still not penetrating enough, not fierce enough.
The so-called Gentle Fist was a direct combat technique centered on the Byakugan, using the body and chakra. Put simply, it was a hereditary bloodline-limit ninjutsu-taijutsu.
For ninjutsu-taijutsu, physical training was an extremely important part.
Yuto was certain that no one his age in the village worked harder than he did. They were children, after all. It was impossible for them to give up all their food and fun just to run into the woods and suffer.
However, despite already working incredibly hard, he had not made any particularly significant progress in a long time.
—This body's talent had already been developed to its limit.
Yuto's physical condition was good, and his total chakra reserves were decent as well. He counted as a genius, but only an ordinary genius.
As time passed and his body matured, Yuto would certainly become a jonin. But taking another step beyond that would be immensely difficult.
With only the branch family's Byakugan, which had part of its power sealed and possessed an innate blind spot, Yuto could not surpass the jonin level. For his entire life, he would not even glimpse the heels of a Kage-level shinobi.
The transmigrator had shortened the time it took to grow from genin to jonin through sweat and hard work, but absolute talent restricted his chances of going further.
Unless... he obtained the means to cultivate other supreme ninjutsu and broke free from the shackles of the Byakugan and Gentle Fist.
Flying Thunder God, Sage Jutsu, Living Corpse Reincarnation, Wood Release... these famous ninjutsu and bloodline limits were Yuto's only hope of breaking through his own limits.
Otherwise, relying on the Byakugan and Gentle Fist alone, revenge would remain impossible for the rest of his life.
After all, even the Hyuga main family, whose Byakugan was unsealed and possessed the complete secret arts of the Gentle Fist, had not produced another Kage-level powerhouse in all these years apart from the legendary "Hyuga Tennin."
Don't rush... take it slow. Yuto murmured inwardly, still completing the day's grueling training.
By the time he had finished every training task, eaten all his rations, and cleaned up the secret training ground, evening had already arrived.
Yuto changed into clean clothes and returned the way he had come.
After becoming a genin, his life had been simple. He either left the village on missions or came to the training ground to cultivate. It was highly regimented.
Because of that, he had few friends and even fewer people he could talk to.
Thus, in the eyes of outsiders, although "Hyuga's Jade" was gentle and treated others well, he also possessed the aloofness of a genius and was not especially easy to approach.
On the way back to the village, Yuto was not alone. Farmers returning from their work and low-ranking shinobi coming back from missions outside the village filled the road. Though friction between the major nations was constant during this period, the atmosphere within the Hidden Leaf Village remained peaceful and relaxed. People chatted and laughed, and those who recognized Yuto greeted him.
Of course, as the Third Shinobi World War drew near, the Hidden Leaf Village would eventually be shrouded in grim tension as well.
After entering the village, Yuto headed toward the clan compound. What he had not expected was that, along this stretch of road, the famous trio from the manga suddenly came into view.
"Obito, you're late again!" Beside the street, inside a takoyaki shop, a pretty girl with purple markings on her cheeks widened her eyes and angrily scolded the boy running toward them.
"Rin, I'm sorry, I was wrong..."
The dark-eyed boy in sunglasses, wearing a bright smile, scratched the back of his head and apologized through a face full of sweat.
"I helped an old lady cross the street..."
"That still doesn't explain being thirty minutes late!"
"Then I helped the tofu seller fetch water, and I bandaged and medicated an injured kitten... I-I just thought they were all so pitiful..."
"You! You!" Rin Nohara glared at Obito Uchiha's miserable appearance. She wanted to scold him, yet could not quite bear to, so she could only turn toward her handsome white-haired companion beside her. "You idiot, you make Kakashi and me wait so long every time. Next time, just go out by yourself!"
"Huh? Don't say that, Rin!" Obito cried. "What are the three of us? Classmates who've been through life and death together! The Hidden Leaf Village's strongest iron triangle! Not one of us can be missing... right, Kakashi?"
"Hm?" Young Kakashi looked up in confusion. "Rin, was there a fly buzzing in front of me just now?"
"Ahhh, Kakashi, you bastard! Stop putting on airs..."
Kakashi tilted his head aside to evade Obito Uchiha's attempted chokehold and spotted Yuto by the street.
He gave Yuto a slight nod in greeting.
—Yuto was a year older than Kakashi, and they were close in age. At the Ninja Academy, teachers often singled them out to demonstrate taijutsu, so they had become fairly familiar with each other over time.
Yuto smiled and greeted them warmly. They had all been classmates, so they were not strangers.
"Hey! Yuto! You're way too hardworking! Come try this shop's takoyaki!"
Beneath the orange-red evening glow, Obito Uchiha's voice brimmed with energy, like an enthusiastic, blazing sun.
