A blood-colored tentacle suddenly lashed out, wrapping around the zombie suspended in midair.
The tentacle jerked downward with force, smashing the zombie viciously into the ground and sending shards of rock flying.
The zombie raised its head and looked toward the Withered Corpse Bamboo.
Blood Brow had uprooted the entire grove of Withered Corpse Bamboo, along with the surrounding rocks. She was carefully clearing away the stones, evidently afraid of damaging the bamboo's flourishing roots.
The zombie's red-glinting eyes remained fixed on the Withered Corpse Bamboo. Its sole remaining right hand ceaselessly clawed at the rocky ground, trying to crawl toward it.
Yet, grievously injured as it was, it could not break free from the blood-colored tentacle's control. Its efforts were ultimately futile.
With a flash, Song Wen appeared in midair above the zombie.
His hands rapidly formed hand seals, and strange runes glowing red condensed before him.
The runes flew out and descended upon the zombie.
The zombie was badly wounded and restrained by the blood-colored tentacle, utterly incapable of resisting. It could only allow the runes to imprint themselves between its brows.
What Song Wen used was the Corpse-Control Curse, one of the most commonly used techniques among corpse-path cultivators. It allowed a cultivator to leave an imprint of spiritual consciousness within a zombie's corpse core, thereby controlling it.
Of course, the Corpse-Control Curse was effective only against ownerless zombies without intelligence.
Song Wen's hands formed one afterimage after another. He swiftly completed the entire set of hand seals for the Corpse-Control Curse, and more than ten runes had already entered the zombie's head.
However, Song Wen discovered in surprise that he had failed to leave an imprint of spiritual consciousness on the zombie.
The Corpse-Control Curse had failed!
Could it have developed intelligence? Song Wen secretly wondered.
