"Bullseye has been released, hasn't he? Send Bullseye to take him out!"

Kingpin gave the order coldly. "Also, send a lawyer's letter to the Daily Bugle. I don't want any reports about me still circulating online. Tell the other media companies not to fan the flames and have them speak for us. Do you understand?"

Wesley nodded. "I've already given the order. These media companies are smart people. They won't make things difficult for us."

He paused. "As for the Daily Bugle, I'll make them understand Kingpin's power."

"Don't disappoint me again, Wesley."

Kingpin gave Wesley a long look. Wesley felt a chill run down his spine, cold sweat pouring from him as he lowered his head, not daring to meet his boss's eyes.

Ring, ring, ring!

Suddenly, Kingpin's private phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, Kingpin frowned slightly and answered. A few seconds later, his expression changed again, and his eyes seemed to blaze with tangible fire.

Seeing this, Wesley knew something was wrong.

This time, Kingpin's fury was worse than anything Wesley had ever seen before.

New York was about to be turned upside down!!

At the Daily Bugle, Anton and Eddie were eagerly sorting through the online comments about Kingpin.

Clearly, public opinion was overwhelmingly in their favor.

That was also related to the media credibility the Daily Bugle had built up over the years.

Everyone was willing to trust the Daily Bugle.

Under such public pressure, Kingpin's true face had been exposed. He could no longer present himself as a hypocritical businessman and philanthropist.

To Anton and the others, this was only the first step in striking at Kingpin.

What remained was to find concrete evidence of Kingpin's crimes and send him to prison, preferably ensuring he could never make a comeback.

It was similar to dealing with the Life Foundation, but not entirely the same.

The Life Foundation had destroyed itself. Kingpin, on the other hand, was extremely smart and cunning. He was definitely not someone who would court his own death.

Compared to the Life Foundation, taking down Kingpin was far more difficult.

"Ben has already gone to verify his theory."

Eddie suddenly said, "Once we have the result, we can immediately expose Kingpin's crimes and brand him a criminal. When that happens, everyone will turn on him. No matter how powerful he is, he won't be able to keep his freedom."

The Ben he mentioned was the colleague from last night—Ben Urich, a reporter passionate about fighting criminals.

Ben Urich knew how deep Kingpin's influence ran, so he was happy to work with the Daily Bugle. Especially since Eddie, someone he knew well, was there.

"Don't worry. You won't be disappointed."

Things were progressing unbelievably smoothly.

Anton was quite satisfied and said with certainty, "Kingpin is the one who killed his father. There's no doubt about it."

"Why are you so sure?" Eddie asked in surprise.

"Because someone inherently evil like Kingpin is capable of anything, even when he was only a teenager." Anton's answer carried a deeper meaning.

Of course, that was a lie. The truth was that he had watched this episode in his previous life.

In his previous life, Daredevil had both movies and television shows.

Kingpin had been one of the main villains.

Moreover, Kingpin frequently appeared in other movies and TV series as well—after all, in the original comic setting, he was the crime emperor of New York and even the entire United States. He had crossed the Punisher, Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, and countless other superheroes.

From that perspective, it was hardly strange for Kingpin to appear in any superhero adaptation.

The issue was that every time Kingpin appeared, his characterization differed depending on the version.

Still, after Ben Urich appeared and Eddie told him that Kingpin's father might not have died in a street shootout, but at Kingpin's hands, Anton knew exactly which version this was.

There was no mistake.

This world's Kingpin was most likely a man who had killed his own father.

The reason was that his father abused his mother. Unable to endure it any longer, Kingpin had killed his father.

Naturally, his mother favored her son. She joined him in covering it all up, telling the public that Kingpin's father had died in a street shootout.

In Hell's Kitchen, people died in street shootouts every day.

The living people of Hell's Kitchen never cared about the dead.

The police cared even less about the dead in Hell's Kitchen.

It was practically a flawless excuse.

To verify the truth, Ben Urich had tracked down Kingpin's mother at a private nursing home in the suburbs of New York.

Ben Urich was certain he could get the answer from Kingpin's mother.

In the outskirts of New York, at a private nursing home.

Ben Urich walked out of the nursing home excitedly. He had clearly gotten the answer he expected.

The only regret was that Kingpin's mother had dementia and was lucid only rarely.

If not for that, Ben Urich would not have been able to get anything out of her.

After all, as Kingpin's mother, Ben Urich had never expected her to appear in court as a witness.

The testimony of an elderly woman like her would not be accepted in court.

Even so, cracks had already appeared in Kingpin's invincible armor.

"This information is hugely important!"

Ben Urich pulled out his phone, wanting to immediately tell Eddie that his suspicion had been confirmed. But then he saw a black car pull up outside the nursing home.

Someone he never expected to see appeared there.

Kingpin!

Ben Urich's eyes widened.

Kingpin seemed to have locked onto his position. He slowly walked toward him, boundless killing intent seemingly solidifying into something tangible and making it hard for him to breathe.

This was the bearing of the underground world's crime emperor.

"Ben Urich..."

Kingpin's face was twisted, without even the slightest trace of a smile. At that moment, only fury kept swelling within him.

Clearly, Ben Urich's actions had touched Kingpin's reverse scale.

Just as Ben Urich's body stiffened and he felt unable to move under Kingpin's overwhelming presence, about to suffer Kingpin's beating—

Whoosh!

A red figure flew in.

Kingpin swiftly dodged, clenching a fist as large as a sandpot and colliding with the red figure.

"Daredevil!"

Kingpin looked at the familiar man before him, slightly surprised. He sneered. "I didn't expect to see you in broad daylight. It seems you really have spared no effort to deal with me."

"Kingpin, your identity has already been exposed. Do you still have the mind to attack innocent people?"

Matt had transformed into Daredevil. Using sound to lock firmly onto Kingpin's position, he then ordered Ben Urich behind him, "Run."

"Right."

Ben Urich had heard much about Daredevil. Naturally, he knew this man had come to deal with Kingpin. Based on the mysterious things Eddie had told him last night, Daredevil was definitely an ally, so he turned and ran.

At that moment, Kingpin waved a hand, and the thugs behind him immediately gave chase.

To Kingpin's surprise, Daredevil did not move. He continued staring at Kingpin as though Ben Urich's life meant nothing to him.

Kingpin did not care about that. Tightening his grip on his cane, his face turned icy as his massive body bore down on Matt, who had become Daredevil, like a towering mountain.

"Daredevil, you won't get away this time."

Matt pulled out his billy club. Two extraordinarily gifted fighters, both possessing combat strength at the limits of humanity, began their battle.

Not far from them, Ben Urich had only run a few steps before Kingpin's thugs caught up with him and blocked him inside an alley, leaving him nowhere to escape.

Just when Ben Urich believed he had reached a dead end and could not escape even with wings, a group of cold-faced men dressed in black appeared from the passageways on both sides and, without hesitation, opened fire on the thugs pursuing him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Ben Urich stared in shock at the bodies lying in pools of blood before him, suddenly recalling what Eddie had said to him last night.

"Work with us, and you won't be disappointed."

Eddie had said, "Our side has personnel you can't even imagine. You could call it God's arrangement. Kingpin is as good as dead!"

"Is this God's arrangement?"

Ben Urich muttered to himself.

Back at the Daily Bugle, Anton received a message.

"As expected, Kingpin discovered Ben's movements. He has already arrived at the nursing home."

After reading the report, Anton saw that Eddie was somewhat worried and smiled. "Don't worry. Daredevil and the High Table's people are guarding Ben. Nothing will happen to him. You should be thinking about how we'll deal with the assassins Kingpin sent to the Daily Bugle to kill us."

"Leave it to me."

Eddie nodded and gave a disdainful snort. "It's been several days since I transformed. It's time New York learned the name Venom."

"Oh?"

Venom's voice suddenly rang out in his mind.

Venom complained, "Can we finally eat bad guys? New York isn't like you said. You told me this place was full of bad guys."

Three updates today, partly because it's New Year's Day, and partly because of some bad news.

Editor Y told me that the recent results haven't been good. Even though the book is on the recommendation slot this week, the number of readers following along has barely changed. If the rankings don't rise next week, this will probably be the last chance. That's just how it is!

I'm actually quite grateful to Editor Y. He has been conscientious and responsible, encouraging me ever since the book first got its trial recommendation. I'm the one who failed to seize the opportunity. Even after getting a recommendation slot, I still couldn't make it take off.

Reader retention isn't something readers alone can determine; the work itself matters too. I know my abilities are limited, and this book takes a while to warm up, but I'm still a little unwilling to give up!

If any friends are stockpiling chapters, please drop in and read whenever the daily update comes out! It would be even better if you could remember to cast a recommendation vote. Thanks, everyone!
