"Bleurgh!" Eddie clung to a tree trunk and vomited violently. He had drunk too much tonight, leaving his mind muddled as he faintly heard intermittent footsteps.

When Eddie looked up, he only saw several blurry black figures swaying toward him. They seemed to be saying something, but Eddie simply could not hear them clearly.

"Hey! Hand over all the money on you!" A bald black thug arrogantly grabbed Eddie by the collar.

"This white pig's pretty delicate-looking!" One black thug with tattoos all over his face carefully examined Eddie's features and let out a lewd "Hehehe."

"Let go of me!" Eddie groggily tried to pry away the hands of the black thugs, but how could his frail body resist this group of burly men?

Slap!

Eddie was knocked to the ground with one punch, spraying several white teeth and sour vomit all over the black thugs' faces.

"Damn it, you dare spit on us!"

"Beat him!"

Several black thugs instantly surrounded Eddie, punching and kicking him from all sides. His body curled up involuntarily as he clutched his head and howled in pain.

Roar!

"Hm? What was that?" The bald black thug stopped, looking around in confusion. He seemed to have heard a strange sound, one that sounded like a wild beast.

"You heard wrong, boss. This isn't even the outskirts yet."

"But I heard there are coyotes around here. Could they be looking for food?"

At those words, the black thugs immediately felt a chill run down their backs. They no longer even cared about Eddie at their feet.

"Huh, is it raining?" The bald black thug felt drops of water falling onto his head. He touched his scalp and found it sticky, like saliva...

The bald thug and the others slowly raised their heads, only to find the branches completely empty. Other than leaves, there was nothing there.

"Let's go. Stop scaring yourselves."

After casually rifling through Eddie's wallet, the black thugs took some of his valuables as well, things like his phone and camera.

Whoosh!

A cold wind blew past, making the black thugs shiver again.

"This damned weather!" The bald black thug cursed as he turned to leave, then glanced around at the others and asked in confusion.

"Where's Johnny? Didn't he come with us?"

"Johnny... huh... he was just here!"

"Fisk! Fisk is gone too!"

A bone-chilling sensation immediately crept into their hearts. The bald black thug also felt that the atmosphere was far too eerie and called to the others.

"Let's go. Maybe they went back first."

"Yeah..."

"Ah!"

"What are you screaming for?" The bald black thug finally could not take it anymore and cursed at the guy who had just shouted. "Who? Who screamed?"

"That sounded like Bonnie, but where's Bonnie?"

"He vanished in the blink of an eye! He was just here!"

At this point, even the dumbest among them realized that something was wrong.

"Could this place be haunted?"

"What are you afraid of? There are so many of us!" The bald thug was actually terrified too. The country might have a short history, but there had been no shortage of bizarre incidents. He was already figuring out how to get away in time.

Roar!

That eerie sound appeared beside them again, frightening them into scattering.

The gang of seven or eight thugs had now dwindled to only three. That was right—while they were panicking, another black thug had disappeared.

"Damn it! Run!" The bald thug no longer cared about anything else. Cursing, he turned and ran.

After only a few steps, he tripped over something. Grimacing, the bald thug tried to get up, but the moment he raised his head, he saw a pale, bloodless face.

"Ah!" The bald thug scrambled backward in terror. He recognized that face—it belonged to Fisk, who had just gone missing. Terrified, his hand touched something wet again. When he raised it, it was covered in blood.

"Ah! Ahhh!" The bald thug was scared out of his wits. A warm stream burst from ***. With no time to fix his pants, he scrambled to his feet on all fours and fled.

In the darkness, a massive thing with a body unlike any human hid among the trees, silently watching the black thug flee in panic before vanishing from its spot in a flash.

Whoosh!

A two-meter-tall black creature descended from above and stomped on the bald black thug's waist, crushing his spine to pieces in an instant and ending his life.

Eddie was hiding beneath a bush, covering his mouth as he trembled and watched the black creature slaughter them. He had sobered up considerably when the beating started. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw a black figure gnawing on something.

Eddie did not dare make a sound. His instincts told him that it was probably the monstrous wolf that had vanished without a trace months ago. He held back his tears, not daring to make the slightest noise for fear that the monster would tear him into pieces.

"Hm? Where did that monster go?" In the blink of an eye, the monster had disappeared. At the same time, Eddie felt as though something was above his head.

Eddie looked up and saw a savage black face glaring down at him with strange white eyes.

"Ahhhh!" Eddie screamed in terror and ran without daring to look back.

Roar! The black monster seemed unbearably irritated by the noise. It covered its ears instead of immediately chasing Eddie.

As Eddie ran, he searched through his belongings, throwing away anything he touched. Unfortunately, the black thugs had already stripped him of nearly everything.

The monster behind him seemed to snap out of it and charged after Eddie with a roar. The distance between them was insignificant. In a single instant, the monster nearly caught up to Eddie and slashed his back with a claw.

Caught off guard, Eddie's back was ripped open, blood pouring out as he fell straight forward.

Bang! Eddie crashed heavily to the ground, and the lighter in his shirt pocket accidentally fell out. Propping himself up, Eddie stared in terror at the black shadow right before him. Panicked, he groped around on the ground until he found the lighter he had dropped. Without thinking, he lit it and threw it at the shadow.

Eddie had not expected the flame to strike the shadow and make it shriek loudly, as if it were terrified of fire.

The flame ignited the dead grass on the ground and spread in an instant, burning the black monster until it howled repeatedly. To Eddie's astonishment, he saw something like liquid on the monster's body twisting and writhing wildly, like a pool of stagnant water being stirred up.

Roar! Howling, the monster tore the black substance off its body and hurled it away—straight toward Eddie.

"What the hell is that?!" Terrified, Eddie frantically backed away. His hands had long since been cut open by stones and weeds, and he had no idea where he had lost his shoes.

Like it had found a lifeline, the black substance swiftly latched onto Eddie's body, instantly spreading out and wrapping him within it.

"Ah! Ah!"

Eddie watched helplessly as he was swallowed up, and then...

"This feeling..."

Eddie only felt an incredible comfort spread through his body, and he could not help crying out.

A brand-new black monster appeared. Eddie coldly stared at the wolf monster that had been tracking him for so long, a sinister smile spreading across his lips...
