Blood Battle Mercenary Group? Why were they here?
Mu She's face darkened.
This mercenary group was not much weaker overall than the Wolf Head Mercenary Group. It was one of Green Mountain Town's three major mercenary groups.
There would likely be no peaceful resolution today.
Mu She noticed that someone among the newcomers was actually acquainted with Wang Teng, and his heart sank even further.
"Fei Lei, this is our Wolf Head Mercenary Group..." Mu She looked toward the Blood Battle Mercenary Group's leader.
However, before he could finish, another rough voice cut him off.
"Cut the crap! You dare lay a hand on Master Wang Teng? I'll fight you to the death today!" Hao Qiang charged straight at Mu She.
Fei Lei sighed helplessly at the sight.
After more than a decade, Hao Qiang's temper had not changed one bit.
"Brothers, kill!" Fei Lei raised his weapon and shouted.
He took the lead, rushing at Mu She and joining forces with Hao Qiang to engage him in battle.
Seeing that their leader had joined the fight, the Blood Battle Mercenary Group's members needed no further prompting. They too charged at the other members of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group.
A melee erupted instantly.
Relying on his strength as a two-star Dou Master, Mu She held off the two of them and barely avoided falling into a disadvantage.
"Perfect chance!" Wang Teng was just about to rush in and join the battle.
At that moment, a figure dropped from a tree as swiftly as lightning.
Caught completely off guard, Mu She was struck by a palm and sent flying like a rag doll, coughing up blood in midair.
By the time he hit the ground, Mu She's face was deathly pale. He was taking more breaths out than in.
The sudden appearance of that powerful expert startled everyone present.
Fei Lei and Hao Qiang stood side by side, warily guarding against the man.
Yet the man did not look at either of them. Instead, he cupped his hands toward Wang Teng and said apologetically, "My apologies, Master Wang Teng. I came too late."
Wang Teng gave him a deep look, then calmly waved his hand.
With Mu She's sudden death, the battle between the two mercenary groups quickly became one-sided.
Before long, the Blood Battle Mercenary Group claimed victory. They killed more than half of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group's core members, while the rest fled into the forest in panic and vanished without a trace.
The Blood Battle Mercenary Group members collecting the spoils were delighted, each wearing a smile.
Hao Qiang walked up to Wang Teng and said excitedly, "Master Wang Teng, I never expected to meet you here."
He introduced him to Fei Lei beside him. "This is him. Thanks to the two pills he gave me, my injuries improved, and I even broke through to Dou Master."
Wang Teng asked curiously, "Weren't you the owner of that tavern?"
Hao Qiang replied, "Back then, because of my injuries, I didn't want to drag down the other brothers in the mercenary group, so I left and went to Wu Tan City to open a small tavern."
Wang Teng understood and smiled. "Thank you for bringing people here."
Hao Qiang said modestly, "Master Wang Teng had a powerful expert protecting you. Even without us, you would have remained unharmed."
He actually felt that he had gotten the better end of the deal. He had barely needed to fight before Mu She died, causing the entire Wolf Head Mercenary Group to collapse.
"Master Wang Teng, please make sure to visit our Blood Battle Mercenary Group's headquarters." Hao Qiang spoke sincerely. "Every time I meet you, something good happens to me."
"No." Wang Teng shook his head. "I'm going to take the assessment for a third-tier alchemist."
"Third-tier?" Hao Qiang's eyes widened in surprise.
The Blood Battle Mercenary Group's core members also heard this, and all of them carefully studied Wang Teng.
This young man, who looked so youthful in their eyes, was about to become a third-tier alchemist.
"Since Master Wang Teng has more important matters to attend to, I, Hao Qiang, won't insist on keeping you." Hao Qiang smiled. "Let me escort you back to Green Mountain Town."
Wang Teng said, "No need. I have another way."
He gave Little Fairy Doctor a look.
Before everyone's eyes, Little Fairy Doctor took out a bamboo whistle and blew it. Its piercing sound spread through the forest.
The crowd looked puzzled.
Soon, bird cries came from overhead.
A shadow spread over the ground as a massive azure bird circled continuously in the sky.
A magical beast? Everyone was startled.
Ignoring their stares, Little Fairy Doctor waved at the Blue Eagle overhead. "Xiao Lan, I'm here! Come down quickly!"
Screech!
The Blue Eagle answered and dove downward. As it landed, the wind it stirred up sent dust flying everywhere.
"I'm leaving. If you need anything, you can find me at Wang Teng's Pill Shop in South Star City." Wang Teng smiled at Hao Qiang.
He and Little Fairy Doctor climbed onto the Blue Eagle's back.
The Blue Eagle spread its wings. Powerful winds battered the ground as its enormous body slowly rose into the air.
Hao Qiang and the others became smaller and smaller beneath them.
Little Fairy Doctor looked at Wang Teng in confusion. "That Hao Qiang respects you greatly. Why didn't you have him escort you to Telan City?"
"You tell me." Wang Teng smiled.
Little Fairy Doctor tilted her head and thought for a moment before testing, "Because of that Grand Dou Master?"
"That's right." Wang Teng nodded.
He could have killed Mu She with ease, yet while I was fighting Mu She, he never showed himself.
Then, once Hao Qiang arrived with his men, he suddenly appeared.
That seemed rather contradictory.
Wang Teng did not dare gamble on whether Jia Lie Lei had developed some other intentions.
So, to be safe, it was better not to let him escort them in secret.
"By the way, is something troubling you?" Wang Teng suddenly asked.
A trace of panic flashed across Little Fairy Doctor's face, but she pretended to be composed. "No."
Wang Teng said, "The two of us have been through life and death together. If something is troubling you, you can tell me."
Little Fairy Doctor fell silent.
Thinking back over the past few days, I seem to have been in danger more than once. If Wang Teng hadn't stepped in, who knows what might have happened.
So it wasn't wrong for him to say we had been through life and death together.
But if he learned that I possessed the Woeful Poison Body, would he still treat me like this?
With that thought, Little Fairy Doctor held out a hand toward Wang Teng.
Wang Teng looked confused.
"Pinky swear." A smile appeared on Little Fairy Doctor's face. "Since we've been through life and death together, no matter what happens in the future, we'll still be friends, right?"
"Of course." Wang Teng held out his hand and hooked pinkies with hers.
Several days later, a majestic city appeared in their field of vision.
"We're finally here." Wang Teng looked at the familiar outline and told Xiao Lan to take them down.
He and Little Fairy Doctor entered the city on foot.
At the city gate, Little Fairy Doctor gazed at the towering entrance and said in amazement, "Telan City truly deserves to be the largest city in the area. Even its gates are much bigger than those of Wu Tan City."
"Come on, let's go in and look around together." Wang Teng said, "Whenever I came here with my teacher before, it was always to handle business. I've never properly explored the city."
"Alright." It was also Little Fairy Doctor's first time visiting such a large city, and she was curious about everything.
As an alchemist, Wang Teng did not even have to pay the entrance fee.
The two wandered around aimlessly for a while, then found a restaurant that appeared to be doing good business and went inside for a hearty meal.
Afterward, they strolled to digest their food while making their way toward the Alchemist Association in Telan City.
When they passed through a marketplace, Wang Teng bought Little Fairy Doctor several sets of clothes and shoes.
As they passed a jewelry stall, Little Fairy Doctor picked up a hairpin, placed it in her hair, and asked Wang Teng whether it looked good.
Without another word, Wang Teng bought it.
Soon after, the two arrived at the Alchemist Association.
"Hello, I'd like to take an assessment," Wang Teng told the staff member receiving them.
As the staff member made a record, he asked, "Are you here to take the assessment for a second-tier alchemist?"
"Third-tier," Wang Teng said.
"What tier?" The staff member froze for a moment and examined the badge on Wang Teng's chest again.
Wang Teng said seriously, "I'm confident I can pass the third-tier alchemist assessment."
This time, the staff member heard him clearly. He looked at the information he had just recorded.
A nineteen-year-old taking the assessment for a third-tier alchemist?
"Sir, I'll take you to the assessment room first." After leading Wang Teng and Little Fairy Doctor there, the staff member immediately turned and hurried away, clearly going to report the matter.
