Light flowed around the cabin hall as Zhang Yu returned from Clan Protector Zhu's flying vessel.
He had just offered a solution that was relatively easy to carry out, though the price was exceedingly high. Yet Clan Protector Zhu had treated it as a priceless treasure, clearly not taking that cost to heart.
After offering his thanks, the man had eagerly begun preparing to return and try it. Before leaving, he did not forget to promise that if Zhang Yu's method truly proved useful, there would certainly be a generous reward.
Zhang Yu considered this. Judging from some of Clan Protector Zhu's actions, the struggle for power within the upper ranks of the Hao Clan was growing ever fiercer.
Over the past half year, he had been using the Administration Office's channels to search for the whereabouts of the Upper Self. At the same time, he had learned many things he had not known before.
For instance, five years before his arrival, the current Hao Emperor had supposedly failed while pursuing the power of the Upper Layer and had been sealed within a crystal chamber of the imperial clan.
Since there had been similar precedents in the past, everyone had originally believed he would awaken before long. During the vacancy, authority was, by custom, placed in the hands of the council of elders.
But everyone had been wrong. For some unknown reason, this man showed no signs of waking. Rumors claimed that the Hao Emperor had suffered irreversible harm, and as time passed, the hope of his return grew ever slimmer.
This created a problem. The previous Hao Emperor had also died mysteriously after some mishap, and it was suspected that the current Hao Emperor had been behind it. Yet this one had occupied the throne for barely three years.
