But those powers all came from living things, so he had no intention of taking a closer look. He flew directly toward several of the tallest ruined structures in the city.
As he sped along, however, he discovered that the architecture here was distinctive. Everything had been carved from the original mountains and rocks, and many narrow caves led downward. It seemed that the structures on the surface were only one part of the city; there should be a much larger space within the underground depths.
Moreover, neither the city's layout nor the traces of life within it suited human habits. He therefore judged that its inhabitants had most likely not been human, but some humanoid or nonhuman spiritual race.

After reaching the highest point in the city, he landed atop a stone mound and looked around.
The place beneath his feet was the city's only structure that had been built up directly. Judging from the remaining traces, it should originally have been covered by a thick layer of plaster and golden paint. Both had now weathered away and fallen off, exposing the grass stalks and stones within.
After observing it, he found that this was most likely only a place for observing the stars, rather than the sacrificial site he had assumed it to be. There were no similar structures nearby either.
