When Taiyi said, "I have a friend," Wu Chu nearly burst out laughing.
But Wu Chu also knew that Taiyi was the kind of person who cared too much about saving face. If he kept making fun of him now, Taiyi would probably never ask him about similar matters again.
After giving a slight cough, Wu Chu asked, "That depends on what sort of misunderstanding it is. If it's nothing serious, then an apology should do."
"An apology is useless. I... my friend apologized too, but she thought he was being perfunctory, avoiding the important issue, and changing the subject..."
"What exactly was the misunderstanding?" Wu Chu grew curious.
"It was... she suspected me—suspected my friend—of peeping on her..."
Not bad, Brother Taiyi. You could even do something like that?
How had I never noticed that you had such a hobby before?
Wu Chu stared at him in shock, feeling as though his understanding of Taiyi had been completely overturned.
"You really did that?"
"Not me. My friend!"
"Yes, yes, did your friend really do something like that?"
"Well, it wasn't entirely his fault. After all, he couldn't help himself. Besides, she was sitting in the water, with steam covering the surface. And without using divine sight, he couldn't actually see clearly."
"You make it sound like you know all about it." Wu Chu gave a soft chuckle, then said, "This isn't that hard to deal with. Tell your friend to explain it directly to that woman. Since he has already seen all of her, he has to take responsibility for her to the end. Just have her marry your friend! There's no need to explain that it was a misunderstanding. He can cut straight to the point and simplify the problem. That's called advancing in order to retreat."
