Lu Chen waved a hand at this. "No rush. There's no need to call yourself a disciple yet. It won't be too late after the ceremony."
"Yes, True Person!"
Lu Chen then looked calmly at Sun Yourong. With a sweep of his sleeve, a set of bright yellow Daoist robes drifted toward her.
"Put these on first, then follow your senior brother in paying respects to our master. Everyone else, step back three paces."
Zeng Rou and the others immediately did as instructed.
Sun Yourong did not waste words either. In three swift motions, she put on the ritual robes and Daoist crown. She could not help sighing to herself: Who would have thought that one day, I too would wear these clothes?
The two stood before the square table.
With a casual wave of Lu Chen's hand, the four plaques of divine offices immediately turned around, their backs facing the pair.
The red gauze covering the plaque in the center was finally removed as well, revealing the words beneath.
Written there in bold strokes were: "Seat of the Dharma-Origin Patriarch of the Great Dao Altar."
—Gasp!
A chorus of sharp breaths sounded from behind them.
Cold sweat broke out across Sun Yourong's forehead. "Lu... Senior Brother, our master's honored name is Dharma-Origin Patriarch?"
She did not even dare ask directly just what sort of being this master was, to dare call himself the "Dharma-Origin Patriarch."
Could he be some world-creating mighty figure on the level of the Three Pure Ones?
Lu Chen smiled and explained, "Today, you and I take the Dao as our master and revere the Dharma above all. Do not ask too much. Just follow your senior brother and pay respects to our master."
"Oh, all right."
Sun Yourong stood shoulder to shoulder with Lu Chen.
