Background / History

Madara was one of Konohagakure’s founders alongside Hashirama Senju. After the wars subsided, the Uchiha and Senju contested the Hokage position; Hashirama opposed the Warring States belief that the strongest should rule, while Madara remained committed to it. Their ideological conflict turned the founders into enemies. 23

Their historic battle left lasting marks throughout the Valley of the End: concentrated Fire Style scorched its rock walls, while Hashirama’s enormous fist and palm impressions remained in the gorge. 34

Madara’s growth was later revealed to have been manipulated over centuries. Black Zetsu watched him from birth, altered the Uchiha stone tablet to guide him, and directed him toward the God Tree and Kaguya Otsutsuki’s revival. 273

Madara is intensely proud, battle-driven, and unwilling to recognize anyone as his superior. He dismisses ordinary shinobi—including the Five Kage—as insignificant, but becomes animated when confronting opponents he considers worthy, especially Hashirama Senju and Hyuga Ryosuke. 256 261 263
