"J-Just like that, they left?"
Yao stared blankly at his lackeys still standing where they were, unable to recover from the shock.
First, more than half of the men he had recruited had turned out to be members of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group.
Then, the Wolf Head Mercenary Group, which had arrived so aggressively, had simply wrapped things up in such a hasty manner? It was all so absurdly dramatic.
Unable to make sense of it, Yao remained seated in a daze, his heart still pounding with fear.
"This Green Mountain Town doesn't seem like a place I can stay any longer."
After a long while, Yao let out a heavy sigh. It was all because of his greed. Not only had he failed to obtain the cultivation technique, but even the Thousand Medicine Hall he had built with his own hands would likely be destroyed because of this.
After this battle alone, the Thousand Medicine Hall would probably have no foothold left in Green Mountain Town.
Yet, when he thought of Little Medical Fairy's strange attitude, Yao still felt that something was amiss.
Little Medical Fairy had grown up in the Thousand Medicine Hall. Yao understood her temperament. She appeared weak and gentle, but she was far more complex within, and her will was firm. There was no way she would hand it over so easily.
"Forget it, forget it. No matter the outcome, it has nothing to do with me anymore..."
Meanwhile, Mu She led his men back. As they left the gates of the Thousand Medicine Hall, he looked at Little Medical Fairy obediently following behind them, and an indescribable sense of unease rose in his heart.
Narrowing his eyes, Mu She called Gan Mu over and asked,
"Did anything unusual happen around the Thousand Medicine Hall earlier?"
Gan Mu replied in a low voice,
"No. Everything was normal and under control."
"Strengthen the patrols along the way."
Mu She did not believe this trip would go so smoothly. If Little Medical Fairy had wanted to hand it over, she would never have waited until now.
"No matter what you're plotting, you're in my hands now."
In the shadows, Xiao Yu watched the members of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group and Little Medical Fairy, who was surrounded by them. Beneath his broad robe, his expression was filled with confidence.
"Everything is proceeding according to plan..."
No one noticed that the alley had somehow become permeated with a faint floral fragrance.
Everyone remained on guard. The men escorting Little Medical Fairy were still walking down the street, while those lying in ambush nearby had quietly collapsed where they stood.
"Thirteen..."
Xiao Yu carefully supported the corpse before him with one hand, slowly lowered it to the ground, and counted under his breath.
What he had taken from Little Medical Fairy last night was no ordinary poison.
It was an incense recorded in the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture, called Drunken Dragon Saliva. It could cause people to gradually fall unconscious without realizing it.
However, drugging people in an open alley was no easy task. So Xiao Yu had buried medicinal triggers around the alley, while Little Medical Fairy's sachet concealed another secret.
That way, as the Wolf Head Mercenary Group moved along, they would gradually fall unconscious as well.
But Mu She truly was an old hand. He quickly noticed that something was wrong in the alley.
Green Mountain Town was constantly bustling with mercenaries. How could an ordinary alley carry such a faint floral scent?
He immediately stopped and blew a whistle.
As the whistle sounded, the hidden sentries around them emerged from concealment. Mu She counted their numbers, only to discover that more than ten men were missing.
The aura of a Dou Shi swept out as he shouted,
"What sneaking rat dares show himself?"
The surrounding mercenaries were also jolted awake by Mu She's shout. Some of the hidden sentries looked at their companions and cried out in alarm,
"Someone's dead!"
Hearing the commotion, Mu She leaped onto a rooftop and scanned the surroundings, but found nothing.
At that moment, a long spear shot out from the shadows and rapidly struck the mercenaries around Little Medical Fairy.
As the smoke dispersed, Xiao Yu stood there in a broad black robe, with Little Medical Fairy behind him.
"Who are you?"
Mu She stared at Xiao Yu, who held a long spear in his hand, and asked in surprise.
He had no idea when such a powerful figure had appeared in Green Mountain Town. The aura Xiao Yu was emitting was already approaching that of a Dou Shi.
Xiao Yu burst into laughter at Mu She's words.
"You've been hunting me for over a month, yet you don't even know who I am?"
Mu She looked at the arrogant Xiao Yu and sneered.
"So it's you. I never expected you to actually deliver yourself to us today. Since that's the case, neither of you is leaving."
With that, he directed the mercenaries around them to surround Xiao Yu and Little Medical Fairy.
Mu She looked coldly at the defiant Xiao Yu and ordered his men to encircle them.
He sneered. "Today, I'll use you two to make everyone in Green Mountain Town understand that the Wolf Head Mercenary Group is not something just anyone can humiliate!"
With a command from Mu She, everyone around them aimed their weapons at Xiao Yu. He mocked,
"You little bastard, don't expect me to care about any rules of the strong and fight you one-on-one. Since you dared provoke the Wolf Head Mercenary Group, what you face won't be just one Dou Shi, but our entire group."
Looking at the sneering Mu She, Xiao Yu had to admit that, even as an enemy, Mu She was making the best choice. When dealing with an enemy, one naturally had to use every means possible to weaken them.
With that thought, Xiao Yu smiled as well.
"What a coincidence. You don't think this poison is that simple, do you?"
The whistle in Little Medical Fairy's hand suddenly sounded. Blue Eagle appeared overhead, releasing the cloth sack clutched in its talons as white powder rained down from the sky.
The corners of Xiao Yu's lips curved slightly. With a burst of force, he enveloped the area several yards around him.
Seeing Xiao Yu's movements, Mu She immediately shouted,
"Fall back!"
But it was already too late. Under the cover of the white powder, the surrounding mercenaries quickly collapsed, gradually falling unconscious.
That was the terrifying part of Drunken Dragon Saliva. Once someone had been poisoned, all it took was the trigger medicine to make them fall unconscious again with ease.
But if the trigger was not activated, they would never discover that they had been poisoned. Even if they sought out an alchemist skilled in medicine for an examination, nothing would be found.
The white powder soon dispersed, and most of the mercenaries around them had collapsed. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Little Medical Fairy climbed onto Blue Eagle's back and circled through the sky.
Xiao Yu looked at Mu She on the rooftop and mocked softly,
"Captain Mu She, do you still like this gift?"
Seeing the mercenaries fallen around him, Xiao Yu slowly stepped forward toward Mu She. But just as he took two steps—
A sudden change occurred. A figure that had been lying on the ground groaning abruptly sprang up, gripping a short blade as he stabbed toward Xiao Yu's chest. The blade glowed faintly blue, clearly coated with a potent poison, and its angle was viciously cunning.
There was no panic on Xiao Yu's face, not even a trace of surprise. The Thousand Flame Spear in his hand suddenly swept out, blocking the ambush while continuing its arc toward the mercenary.
Clang!
The blue-glowing short blade struck Xiao Yu's Thousand-Flames Spear, sending sparks flying everywhere. Yet not a single mark was left on the crimson spear shaft.
Having failed in one strike, the attacker immediately used the recoil from Xiao Yu's blow to flee into the distance.
How could Xiao Yu allow him that chance? He chuckled.
"Since you've made your move, don't think of leaving."
Xiao Yu sensed that the attacker wanted to use the opportunity to retreat. How could he let him get away? Gripping the Thousand Flame Spear, he thrust fiercely at the man.
Sensing the attack from behind, the attacker had no choice but to change direction and block Xiao Yu's strike.
