Background / History
Han Jue was a retired soldier with imperial military connections who established the Iron Cavalry Mercenary Group in Desert City. He organized the group according to military administration, with Qin Yang as a trusted scout captain and Guo Pu, a one-star Da Dou Shi, as his sworn brother. His Iron Cavalry was reputedly especially formidable on the Tagor Great Desert's flat terrain 53 56 60.
Before Xiao Yu's arrival, Han Jue secretly cultivated a sixth-tier medicinal herb, the Devouring Hundred Herbs, hoping to overcome the limits of his aptitude and advance beyond Da Dou Shi. He concealed the herb in a secret chamber beneath his private courtyard; only his daughter Han Qianqian knew of it. To keep its discovery secret, he had eliminated the mercenaries who originally knew about the herb 56 59.
Xiao Yu abducted Han Qianqian to draw Han Jue out. Han Jue recognized the exchange demand as a trap, prepared his men for battle, and traveled alone while remaining alert for an ambush. He neutralized Xiao Yu's crossbow traps with Earth-Splitting Scroll, but was eventually drugged unconscious by arrows coated in the alchemical pill Half-Day Tour 57.
After Han Jue awakened, Xiao Yu implanted a soul seal in him. The seal gave Xiao Yu control over Han Jue's life and death, forcing Han Jue to submit. Xiao Yu then spared the Devouring Hundred Herbs and promised to strengthen both Han Jue and the Iron Cavalry Mercenary Group, causing Han Jue's loyalty to grow alongside the imprint's influence 58.
Xiao Yu later helped the Devouring Hundred Herbs bloom and extracted its essence for Han Jue. The medicine healed Han Jue's hidden injuries, improved his meridians and talent, and raised him to five-star Da Dou Shi 59 60.
With Xiao Yu's support, Han Jue launched a night assault on the Flame Mercenary Group. He fought its leader, Zhu Yan, using Myriad Swords Return to Origin, while Xiao Yu blocked Zhu Yan's escape and ultimately killed him with Cloud Crane Shadow. The Iron Cavalry Mercenary Group subsequently unified Desert City 61 62.
After Xiao Yu departed, Han Jue administered Desert City in his master's interests. When Xiao Yu later contacted him through their soul imprint, Han Jue led Iron Cavalry elites to Wutan City to protect the Xiao Clan and Xiao Zhan 65 93 103.
Han Jue directly confronted a mysterious Dou Wang while defending the Xiao Clan, despite the overwhelming difference in strength. He was severely injured but remained behind after Xiao Zhan's disappearance, helping the clan clear the ruins and tend to its wounded. He later informed Xiao Yan that Xiao Zhan's disappearance was not the Misty Cloud Sect's doing and directed him toward Jia Nan Academy 103 104.
Personality
Han Jue is calculating, cautious, and accustomed to military discipline. When Han Qianqian was kidnapped, he immediately considered potential enemies, prepared reinforcements, and remained watchful for traps even while traveling alone to the exchange site 56 57.
He is deeply devoted to his daughter and was willing to enter an obvious trap rather than abandon her. His protectiveness also drove his ruthless secrecy around the Devouring Hundred Herbs 55 56.
Following the soul seal's implantation, Han Jue retains his ambition and judgment but develops absolute loyalty toward Xiao Yu. He becomes willing to risk his life carrying out Xiao Yu's orders, including confronting a Dou Wang to defend the Xiao Clan 58 103.
