An iron staff swept out, smashing the vault of heaven as it struck at the demonic bird's head, far larger than an ancient mountain, intending to smash it into ten thousand blooming peach blossoms! Unfortunately, this vicious bird was too powerful. With a spread of its wings, it tore through the sky and vanished in an instant, evading the iron staff. Though enormous, it was exceptionally agile and possessed divine speed.
"You are so savage and lawless—are you not afraid of offending the harmony of Heaven?" Such a voice came from within the mist as the iron staff struck horizontally once more.
"What is the harmony of Heaven? Even the heavens cannot contain me!" The vicious bird's colossal body filled the sky. It beat its wings forcefully, seeking to shake heaven and earth into four pieces and five fragments. Wild winds rose, and the entire world plunged into darkness.
As such a gigantic vicious bird unleashed its precious technique, its demonic might covered the world. Its mournful cries sounded as though they came from the Nine Netherworlds. Thousands upon thousands of black feathers, condensed with terrifying runes, shot forth. Each one was astonishingly thick as they whistled down like they were about to destroy the world, charging toward the creature wielding the iron staff.
A fierce battle began once again. The iron staff pierced through heaven and earth, colliding with the endless black feathers. The radiance of precious techniques blossomed, throwing the skies into chaos and shaking the earth as the winds and clouds of all directions vanished and re-formed.
Screech!
Black light surged brilliantly. The black feathers filling the sky gathered together, abruptly transforming into a black furnace taller than hundreds or thousands of mountains. Its majestic momentum was terrifying as it stood between heaven and earth. This was a great furnace of heaven and earth.
The Heaven-Swallowing Sparrow had woven it from demonic feathers and refined it with runes, creating this terrifying demonic furnace. With a light hum, it sought to draw in the creature wielding the iron staff.
Hum!
Its energy soared into the stars. The giant creature swung the iron staff with all its might, while a vertical eye opened between its brows. Golden light blazed, and runes filled the sky, transforming into an unmatched immortal sword that slashed toward the black great furnace.
This was a battle of life and death. They had truly fought themselves into a raging fury!
Elsewhere, the scarlet bird was also locked in fierce combat with that enormous vicious beast, fighting without regard for life or death. Firelight collided with massive claws, ringing with clangs as the sounds of the Dao rumbled and heaven and earth resonated.
They fought as they traveled through the air, crossing endless mountains and rivers. The battlefield spread ever wider.
On the ground, the flourishing Thunder Clan had become a thing of the past. One enormous city after another stood empty, and tens of millions of people had been swallowed in a single gulp by the Heaven-Swallowing Sparrow. This truly counted as a great calamity.
As the four supreme creatures departed, a gust swept past. Dozens of giant cities, along with many smaller towns, collapsed in an instant, turning into broken walls and rubble.
The Thunder Clan, once the most prosperous clan to rule this land, had become drifting clouds of history and no longer existed!
"Within a hundred thousand li, no living creature shall remain. Only when these mountains and rivers are dyed red with blood will they be most beautiful!" The vicious beast standing between heaven and earth, shrouded in dense mist, had icy green eyes that reflected terrifying killing intent.
It commanded all living beings, yet it also began to move. Breaking free of the little red bird's entanglement, it rushed forward and disappeared into the distance, reaching the end of the horizon.
"Heavens, what kind of monster is that?"
Within the territory of another marquis, the Purple Mountain Clan was stunned. In that vast mist, a pair of green eyes as large as lakes drew ever closer, their pressure suffocating them.
Whoosh!
The little red bird pursuing from behind opened its mouth and spat out a stretch of rosy light. It carried surging divine flames that gave birth to a scarlet immortal sword, which cleaved toward the enormous vicious beast.
Unfortunately, it was too late to stop it. This colossal creature, standing tall against the sky with its body rising above the clouds, opened its huge mouth like a sea of blood and swallowed everything in all directions.
"Heavens, no! What kind of vicious beast is this? How can it be so powerful?"
The Purple Mountain Clan was horrified. The entire royal city rose from the ground. Its black mountain-ridge-like walls, magnificent palaces, and everything else cracked apart, while the entire city's population fell into that bloody maw.
The little red bird wanted to intercept it, but human bodies were far too frail. With the slightest contact, everyone would burst apart within that bloody maw and become a mist of blood, because they were all within the range of the vicious beast's precious technique.
A wave of demonic light shot toward every corner of the land before sweeping back, enveloping countless living beings. The Purple Mountain Clan's population of tens of millions all flew into the sky, turning into a vast torrent that poured into that bloody maw and was swallowed into its belly. Even that powerful sacrificial spirit had not the slightest ability to fight back. It exploded in the air, becoming a cloud of blood mist that drifted into this colossal vicious beast's mouth.
This was true misery for all living things!
The Purple Mountain lineage was exterminated. Apart from the Purple Mountain Marquis, whose whereabouts were unknown, the entire clan was dead. Not a single person survived.
The little red bird was furious. It had to hold back for fear of harming the innocent, while this savage creature had no such scruples and swallowed tens of millions of people in a single gulp.
A gust of wind swept through, and chaotic energy overflowed. Every giant city in this place collapsed, becoming ruins.
"Within a hundred thousand li, whether humans or other living creatures, so long as they have formed a tribe or clan, leave none behind! Wash them all clean in blood!"
The four supreme creatures fought for dominance. Two of them roared madly, commanding all living beings to trample this land flat and turn this territory into the ashes of calamity.
More than a dozen ancient remnants led the way, rampaging across this region. They breached one race's dwelling after another, exterminated one great clan after another, and left blood flowing into rivers.
Roar...
A roar erupted from an ancient tribe with a long inheritance.
A one-armed Demon Ape, its eyes savage and fierce, was shrouded in black mist like a vicious spirit from hell. With a spread of its wings, it became a streak of black lightning that tore through the sky and dived down.
"Heavens, an ancient remnant is attacking!"
This tribe was by no means small, with two or three hundred thousand people and no shortage of powerful experts who had deeply studied the power of Bone Script. At this moment, a group of masters charged out to intercept it.
Puff!
Yet after merely one exchange, the Demon Ape cracked open their skulls. With a fierce inhale, their brains flew into its mouth and were devoured clean.
Such a powerful ancient remnant could not be opposed at all. Even if two or three hundred thousand people attacked together, they were no match for it. Numbers could not bridge such a gap.
The tribe's sacrificial spirit appeared: a silver giant crocodile. Yet after only a few moves, the Demon Ape used its single arm and one foot to tear it alive into two halves. Silver blood spurted forth, and it died a violent death.
Not far away, a beast tide appeared and swiftly drowned this place. A tribe of two or three hundred thousand people became a thing of the past. Blood stained the ground, and everyone was buried in the bellies of beasts.
The beast tide grew ever larger. As it charged toward the end of the land, more and more vicious birds and savage beasts from the great mountain ranges joined it along the way. The sight was spectacular enough to make one's scalp tingle.
Vicious birds and savage beasts rioted, obeying the command to wash all directions in blood.
"Dye this land red with fresh blood. I will take away the finest among you and permit you to follow me, cultivating on the divine mountain where I dwell," a supreme creature roared.
Once these words rang out, those prehistoric beasts and creatures that dominated their regions were all exhilarated. If they could follow such an existence and cultivate in its dwelling place, they would surely gain enormous benefits.
This land descended completely into chaos. All kinds of roars rose in a deafening clamor as vicious beasts surged like a flood, slaughtering in all directions.
With a long cry, an enormous vicious bird spread its wings and scattered the clouds. Leading a dense mass of vicious birds, it charged toward a large tribe with a population of several hundred thousand.
"Release the arrows!"
The tribal chief roared. Every warrior emerged, drawing their bows toward the sky. Iron arrows whistled upward, flying high into the heavens. Some fierce birds were indeed struck by arrows and fell down with mournful cries.
But even more were unharmed, because the one leading them was far too savage. It was a terrifying ancient remnant. Opening its mouth, it spat out interwoven runes that transformed into blazing flames, pouring down and covering the sky and earth.
"Ah..."
Cries of agony rose one after another within the tribe. Whole swathes of people were buried in the sea of flames, burned directly into ash. Its vicious might was unstoppable.
An hour later, the tribe with several hundred thousand people had become the ashes of calamity. Vicious birds filled the sky as they flew past, leaving behind scattered broken feathers that fell upon the ruins, telling of grief and pain.
"Why? Is the heavens punishing us humans?"
Someone cried out. On this day, countless tribes came under attack and lacked the strength to resist. Once their sacrificial spirit was slain and the clan's experts died in battle, it meant extermination.
"Humans already struggle to survive in this cruel Great Wilderness. Why must such a calamity descend upon us as well?!"
In ordinary times, savage beasts covered the land and vicious birds crossed the sky. This was the reality of human survival: they had to fight and struggle, or there would be no way to live.
But now, even if they fought, even if they risked everything, their entire clans would still be wiped out.
This was a vast catastrophe sweeping across the land. Under the lead of the Heaven-Swallowing Sparrow and that sky-reaching vicious beast, the mountains and rivers were dyed red, and every clan was exterminated.
Destruction was always easier than creation. Even though the little red bird and the creature wielding the iron staff wished to stop it, their efforts had little effect. As they battled the Heaven-Swallowing Sparrow and that vicious beast, one careless strike could shatter mountains and rivers, causing even greater harm.
The mountains and rivers were crimson; blood flowed until it carried shields away!
The Golden Wolf Tribe and Luofu Great Marsh were also destroyed one after another. Their entire clans perished, and not a single person survived. At this point, the four strongest clans of this land had been completely wiped out, their dwelling places becoming blood-stained ruins.
As for the other tribes, they too followed in their footsteps. Unable to escape the great calamity, they met the same fate. On this day, heaven and earth wept as countless people died beneath the sharp claws and white teeth of vicious birds and savage beasts.
Besides the human race, several clans such as the Wing Clan and the Wood Clan, which had formed great tribes, also suffered terrifying assaults and were wiped clean from this territory.
All great clans were exterminated, and then the vast calamity spread to territories even farther away.
Just as the Heaven-Swallowing Sparrow and the other supreme creature had said, everything within a hundred thousand li was annihilated. Mountains and rivers were stained with blood, living beings wailed, and the world resembled the end of days.
The once-prosperous giant cities became ruins. The vast plains once fit for living beings to multiply upon were now heavy with death, covered in broken bones, with blood flowing into rivers.
Once the calamity appeared, no one could escape it. Chaos afflicted heaven and earth, living beings wailed in grief, the world was struck with terror, and blood flowed for a hundred thousand li!
Boom!
Only several days later did the life-and-death duel between the four supreme creatures finally end, drawing its curtain closed. The entire world fell silent at once, without even the faintest sound.
As far as the eye could see, towering mountains had either collapsed or become broken peaks. The earth was cracked, all life had vanished, bloodstains covered everything, and the land had become a place of death.
This was the true state of affairs. The living environment was harsh, prehistoric savage beasts were everywhere, vicious birds blanketed the sky, and venomous insects hid in the forests. To survive, one had to keep fighting and struggling.
Tragedies like today's had always been playing out in every corner of the world.
Silver Moon rose, and the mountains and rivers lay silent, steeped in death without a trace of sound. The night wind swept across the land with a mournful "woo woo," like people weeping in grief.
