Qian Renxue leaned back in her chair, resting with her eyes closed.
The little guy had called her "Big Brother Crown Prince" so affectionately during the day.
She looked calm on the surface, but she was actually very happy. It was like gaining a younger brother.
Porcupinefish Douluo noticed the slight upward curve of Qian Renxue's lips. She seemed to like Jiang Nanchen very much.
If so, perhaps this was a good thing for the young mistress.
She had been undercover for six years, and no one had ever come to see her. Back then, the young mistress had only been a child. Now that she had grown up, he had thought her heart had turned cold as iron.
Jiang Nanchen's appearance had shattered all that.
"Uncle Porcupinefish."
Qian Renxue's sudden words jolted Porcupinefish Douluo out of his daze.
"Young Mistress, what is it?"
Qian Renxue opened her eyes and asked curiously, "Do you think Nanchen can evolve his angel to six wings? He only has two wings right now."
"This... I think it'll be rather difficult."
Porcupinefish Douluo shook his head.
A Six-Winged Angel required a powerful bloodline. Aside from Qian Daoliu's line, the members of the Angel Legion only possessed ordinary two-winged or four-winged angels.
At present, only Qian Daoliu and Qian Renxue possessed Six-Winged Angels.
Where could Jiang Nanchen find a way to evolve to six wings?
It was not merely difficult—it was practically impossible.
If it were truly that easy, every member of the Angel Clan would have six wings. The other clans might as well stop competing. This talent alone would be enough to rule over them all.
"Uncle Porcupinefish, what if it's possible?"
Qian Renxue felt that it could be done. For some inexplicable reason, she had confidence in Jiang Nanchen.
Judging from the way Jiang Nanchen conducted himself, that little rascal was already very different.
"Young Mistress, if you think it's possible, then leave it to time. Time will prove everything."
Porcupinefish Douluo did not know how to answer, but leaving it to time was surely the best answer.
If he really could evolve to six wings, it would be a great blessing for Spirit Hall.
"Fine. Then leave it to time."
Qian Renxue nodded. "Go attend to your duties. I want some time alone."
"Understood!" Porcupinefish Douluo answered.
Porcupinefish Douluo left.
Qian Renxue began thinking about the treasures at Heaven Dou City's auction house.
She remembered that quite a few light-attribute treasures had recently been put up for auction.
She had not intended to bid on them, but they would suit Jiang Nanchen. They could go register after buying the items.
Little fellow!
Your Big Brother Crown Prince has been very good to you. Remember to repay me properly in the future.
Qian Renxue began fantasizing about her future little brother protecting her.
Meanwhile, Jiang Nanchen sat cross-legged on his bed. He had no idea what Qian Renxue was thinking, though he could not help feeling a little wistful.
Wouldn't the Angel Clan give me one of their meditation methods?
He wanted to ask for one, but he could not make it too obvious. It would be disastrous if they discovered that there was something wrong with him.
After musing for a moment, Jiang Nanchen put aside his stray thoughts and circulated his soul power, beginning his daily cultivation.
Without the Angel Clan's exclusive meditation method, his soul power circulated somewhat slowly. He decided that tomorrow, he would find an opportunity to hint at it.
The night passed without incident as soul power slowly flowed through his meridians.
The next morning, the sky had only just brightened.
The door was gently pushed open, and Qian Renxue stepped inside. She had intended to wake him, only to find Jiang Nanchen already seated by the window. He was flipping through a basic soul master tome, his golden hair hanging loose while the morning light fell over its tips, casting a faint golden glow.
Qian Renxue halted, unable to help staring blankly.
This little guy was actually rather good-looking when he was quiet.
Then she remembered that he looked exactly like she had as a child. Of course he was good-looking. She secretly nodded, completely unaware that she had been standing there watching him for quite a while.
Jiang Nanchen closed his book and looked up. Seeing her standing in the doorway with an unreadable expression, he asked, "Big Brother Crown Prince, what are you standing there for?"
Qian Renxue suddenly came back to herself. Her cheeks grew slightly warm, and she hurriedly coughed twice to hide her embarrassment.
"Nothing." She clasped her hands behind her back and adopted the Crown Prince's composed bearing. "We won't be going to the academy today. I'll take you to Heaven Dou City's auction house and see if they have any light-attribute treasures suitable for you."
A trace of surprise flashed through Jiang Nanchen's eyes, and he nodded. It would be a good chance to see whether there were any items that could increase his soul power, and he could also take the opportunity to bring up the meditation method.
"Alright."
He got out of bed, straightened his robe, and followed Qian Renxue outside. Secretly, he calculated that this Qian Renxue was rather attentive.
After leaving the Crown Prince's residence, Jiang Nanchen asked, "Are the treasures at that auction house any good?"
"I don't know." Qian Renxue shook her head.
"Then it seems His Highness the Crown Prince isn't all that capable." Jiang Nanchen spread his hands. "As the Crown Prince, you don't even know that. I suppose your authority is pretty limited."
Qian Renxue felt a little stifled. How was this little brat so good at talking? He would not let her off even for this short walk.
Still, she had no intention of refuting him.
Instead, she smiled. "I simply haven't looked into it. Besides, whether the items are good or bad, they'll be yours."
You have money, and you're the Crown Prince. Who would dare bid against you?
Jiang Nanchen rolled his eyes.
Then he sighed.
"Ah, my meditation last night was still too unfamiliar. Otherwise, I could have improved further."
"At six years old, I don't even have good meditation resources."
Qian Renxue abruptly stopped.
What did this little guy mean? Was he taking shots at me, openly and indirectly? So all that beating around the bush was because he blamed me for not giving him a meditation method? Little brat, you may be young, but you sure have plenty of tricks.
She turned to look at Jiang Nanchen. He wore an innocent expression, his gaze so clear that it seemed as though he had truly just sighed casually.
"Stop being so sarcastic." Qian Renxue said irritably. "I'll get you a meditation method later."
Jiang Nanchen's eyes brightened, and a smile appeared on his face.
"I never said I wanted one. Big Brother Crown Prince, you're the one who offered to give me one."
"You're really pushing your luck?" The veins at Qian Renxue's temples throbbed as her fists clenched with cracking sounds.
She took a deep breath and repeatedly told herself to stay calm. She could not argue with a six-year-old child, especially not one who wore her own face.
After a long while, she finally squeezed out through clenched teeth, "Yes, I'm giving it to you willingly. Satisfied?"
"Very satisfied. Thank you, Big Brother Crown Prince." Jiang Nanchen smiled until his eyes curved. With his goal achieved, even his tone became much more obedient.
Qian Renxue turned her face away, both angry and amused.
This brat was practically a little fox. He had drawn the words out of her step by step, yet still made her feel as if it had been her own initiative.
But on second thought, he should have been given an exclusive meditation method in the first place. Cultivating an Angel martial soul without an orthodox cultivation method truly wasted his talent.
The two arrived at the entrance to the auction house, where Qian Renxue instructed her attendants to arrange a private room in advance.
"Go in. The auction is about to begin. If you see anything you like, bid on it directly. Don't hold back." Qian Renxue stepped inside. "Tomorrow, I'll have the meditation method delivered to your room."
Jiang Nanchen paused. "Aren't I registering? Won't I be living at the academy?"
"Can't you live at home?"
"It's not that I can't."
Qian Renxue froze. You're actually complaining that I came, that I'm disturbing you?
She immediately flew into a rage. "Go home. If you dare stay at the academy, I'll beat your butt until it blossoms."
