"Of course. Let's go now."
Old Jack had nothing to prepare, and neither did Jiang Nanchen.
The two quickly left Holy Soul Village and headed for Nording Academy.
Meanwhile, at Tang San's home, after Tang San displayed his Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer Martial Souls, he told Tang Hao another important piece of information.
"What? You said that person awakened an Angel Martial Soul!"
Tang Hao, unkempt and covered in an untrimmed beard, widened his eyes as though he had heard something unbelievable.
A glimmer appeared in his previously lifeless eyes—a glimmer of killing intent.
"Yes, Father. It's the child adopted by that village chief grandpa."
Tang San was rather surprised. Why was his father reacting so strongly? His emotions had fluctuated so intensely!
Tang Hao realized he had lost his composure. He took a deep breath and calmed himself. "It is indeed a good Martial Soul. But, Little San, you must never reveal your Clear Sky Hammer to a second person. Do you understand?"
Tang San nodded. "I understand, Father."
"Mm. Get some rest early. Try to leave for Nording Academy early tomorrow," Tang Hao said.
Tang San nodded in agreement.
Tang Hao picked up his battered, dented flask and took a swig, then sat on the ground and began planning that night's operation.
"An Angel Martial Soul. Interesting. I don't know who you are or why you appeared in Holy Soul Village, but don't blame me for showing no mercy."
Ah Yin had suffered terribly at the hands of an Angel Martial Soul. He had long regarded the Angel Clan as mortal enemies, foes beneath the same sky.
"I'll act tonight!"
Tang Hao clenched his fist, his gaze resolute.
Soon, night fell.
Dressed in black, Tang Hao quietly approached the room where Jiang Nanchen lived. Yet when he investigated from outside, he discovered that no one was inside.
"How is that possible?"
Tang Chen frowned and immediately pushed open the door, only to find the room completely empty.
"Damn it, he left early!" Tang Hao cursed.
It would be difficult to kill Jiang Nanchen in the future. With so many people around, he could not act rashly. He could only wait for another opportunity.
Tang Hao left at once.
Time passed quickly. The next morning, Jiang Nanchen and Old Jack arrived before the gates of Nording Academy.
"After traveling for an entire day, we've finally arrived."
Jiang Nanchen wiped the sweat from his forehead. Like a youth running beneath the sunlight, he was brimming with energy.
Old Jack smiled. "We're here. Come on, let's go to that gatekeeper up ahead."
Jiang Nanchen and Old Jack went to the gatekeeper. Just as they were about to hand over the recommendation letter, the gatekeeper suddenly started causing trouble.
"Where did this country brat come from?"
The gatekeeper sneered at Jiang Nanchen and Old Jack's clothes.
Although Jiang Nanchen looked extraordinary, his clothing told the man that he definitely had no money on him.
"What do you mean by that? We're here to enroll!"
Old Jack was immediately enraged. Was this how an academy was supposed to behave?
"Enroll? Let me see!" the gatekeeper sneered.
Old Jack handed over the recommendation letter.
"Sacred Angel, Innate Full Soul Power!"
The gatekeeper muttered under his breath and swallowed hard. An Angel Martial Soul?
Wasn't that a Martial Soul exclusive to the Qian Family of Spirit Hall?
His heart pounded, and his hands trembled.
The gatekeeper wanted to look more closely, but Jiang Nanchen began to release his Sacred Angel Martial Soul. Holy wings unfurled behind him, radiating boundless light.
"Do you still have any doubts?"
Jiang Nanchen asked.
"No, no."
The gatekeeper repeatedly waved his hands, opening the gate and stepping aside in one smooth motion.
"Please enter! I failed to recognize your greatness."
Good heavens, what immortal had descended upon this dump of a place called Nording Academy? It was terrifying. He truly could not afford to offend him. Fortunately, he had not offended him beyond repair.
Old Jack snorted at the gatekeeper and strode inside. Even a mere gatekeeper was so snobbish—just how did Nording Academy select its people?
They made their way to the registration office. Since he was a work-study student, Jiang Nanchen was, unsurprisingly, assigned to Dorm Seven.
"Grandpa, you should head back first. I can go to Dorm Seven by myself. While it's still light out, you can get back to Holy Soul Village earlier."
Jiang Nanchen did not let Old Jack accompany him to Dorm Seven. It was still some distance away, and there was no need to make Old Jack walk any farther.
"All right, then. Take good care of yourself at the academy. Grandpa will be leaving now."
After offering a few reminders, Old Jack turned around and slowly left with the aid of his cane.
His hunched figure soon vanished around the corner.
Jiang Nanchen watched Old Jack leave, then immediately headed toward Dorm Seven. He currently had no money to pay tuition, and most of what he had needed to be saved for food.
It would be even better if he could eat some draconic meat.
He felt around in his pockets. They were completely empty. What could he use to buy it? And Whale Rubber too—he would need some money to solve that problem as well.
Familiar with the plot, Jiang Nanchen was extremely confident about making money. Moreover, he could accomplish many things.
He arrived outside Dorm Seven.
Jiang Nanchen pushed open the door to Dorm Seven, and a wave of sweat stench rushed at him.
A figure suddenly sprang out from the side, fist roaring through the air as it shot straight toward him.
Jiang Nanchen's gaze turned cold. Soul Power gathered in his right hand as he drove his fist directly into the incoming punch.
The two fists collided with a dull boom.
Jiang Nanchen only took one step back, while the other person was sent flying. He rolled across the ground two or three times before coming to a stop.
Several work-study students in the dormitory were stunned. They stared at Jiang Nanchen in shock. Not only was he exceptionally handsome, but the force behind his strike was terrifying.
The boy on the ground propped himself up and climbed to his feet, rubbing his numb arm as his face flushed bright red.
"I'm Wang Sheng, the boss of Dorm Seven! The rule for entering Dorm Seven is that you have to beat me first!"
Jiang Nanchen brushed the dust from his sleeve and raised his eyes to look at him.
"With that little skill, you dare call yourself the boss?"
Wang Sheng gritted his teeth and wanted to charge again, but his companions beside him held him back tightly. He knew perfectly well how much force his previous punch had contained. The other party had received it effortlessly. If they truly fought, he would be no match.
"I admit defeat. From now on, you're the boss of Dorm Seven." Wang Sheng lowered his head gloomily.
Jiang Nanchen had no interest in fighting over such a title. He looked around, found an empty bed by the window, and set down his simple bundle.
"My name is Jiang Nanchen. There's no need to change the rules. Just don't bother me."
"Boss, that won't do. From now on, our Dorm Seven follows your lead."
Wang Sheng would not continue being the boss. That was the rule Dorm Seven had always followed.
"Fine."
Jiang Nanchen knew there was no use arguing further, so he could only let it go and reluctantly accept the position of boss. Besides... he could have these underlings help him do things.
First, he had to get enough money to buy Whale Rubber. Then he could go secure his first soul ring.
"By the way, do you know who in the nearby dorms has money?" Jiang Nanchen asked after putting away his things.
"Money?" Wang Sheng quickly ran through the possibilities in his mind and immediately thought of someone. "Boss, there really is one—Xiao Chenyu. He's very rich. He's the son of Nording City's City Lord, a Soul Master with one white soul ring, and his Martial Soul is a wolf!"
Xiao Chenyu?
Jiang Nanchen naturally knew this person, someone who had opposed Tang San during the early days. He had thought there might be some other wealthy people, such as nobles from Nording City.
Since there were none, he would set his sights on Xiao Chenyu.
