Deathmark sighed and began to miss the battlefields of old. Those powerful foes had been worth his time to hunt.
Hurry up and destroy these scarabs, then return to the tomb and continue sleeping.
Deathmark pulled the trigger and found it completely unresponsive. Startled by the malfunction in his Gauss Rifle, he immediately adjusted its output mode and directly entered a string of commands into the rifle's firing system.
The rifle still showed no reaction whatsoever.
"What! What is going on?!" Deathmark could not understand it. Instinctively slipping into his dimensional pocket, he began inspecting the weapon in his hands. He found no damage or abnormalities. This Gauss Rifle was still a powerful, reliable weapon.
Emerging from the dimensional pocket, Deathmark blinked out at another location, still aiming at the scarab hiding behind cover.
He pulled the trigger and issued the command. The rifle remained motionless. Only the Gauss disintegration beam flowed through its channels.
At that moment, Lin Fan shouted at the bewildered Deathmark, "You can't see him. You have to see him before you can shoot!"
"I can see him!" Deathmark snapped irritably. Pointing at his single eye, he continued, "That weak scarab has already been imprinted in my eye. Even if he hides within a dimensional rift, I can still find him."
Lin Fan shook his head and pointed at his own eyes. "That kind of observation doesn't count. There can't be anything blocking your line of sight to the target."
Deathmark was briefly speechless. If he had to snipe according to Lin Fan's rules, wouldn't all his equipment become useless?
Amid the urging, Deathmark reluctantly phased through space and blinked to the scarab's side. With nothing obstructing his vision now, the trigger that had refused to move returned to normal.
Sizzle...
The scarab was completely unharmed.
