Arcs of electricity surged through the void, dyeing the blackness a deep green. At the farthest reach of those arcs, the bones and flesh of countless Degraded Ones ruptured and disintegrated.
The enormous, exaggerated pyramid also unfolded, its four corners spreading apart to reveal the core within. A captive sun hung suspended inside the pyramid, offering its energy to the dynasty's great undertaking.
The raging solar wind was absorbed by the internal barriers, while Crypteks and scarabs exquisitely controlled that force and sent it leaping into orbit. Before long, they created a spot of light within a radar-dish-like depression, thousands upon tens of thousands of times brighter than the sun itself.
Then the spot of light erupted. Like the claymore mines humanity had created in its war-torn ages, countless forms of destruction surged forward. Yet what flew toward the enemy was not cheap steel balls and shrapnel, but the unwilling roar of a sun imprisoned for far too long.
The spreading heat wave looked as though the void had been draped in a thin orange veil. Warships formed from Degraded Ones were scorched black and roasted through, the heat greatly accelerating their molecular motion. Entire fleets slipped toward destruction like quicksand.
Yet as an imitation of bygone ages, the Degraded Ones could not merely endure the blows. Countless servants created by the Old Ones during the War in Heaven, along with Aeldari warriors skilled in psychic power, launched a counterattack against the Necrontyr fleet.
