After climbing to his feet, Magnus immediately displayed his scholarly side. His enormous single eye swept across every corner, committing everything unfamiliar to him firmly to memory.

Leman Russ nodded in response to his brother's excitement. He relied only on his nose to search for the gateway through which they had arrived, eventually catching a familiar scent behind them.

The scent of decay and apocalypse accumulated through the Eternal War lingered faintly in Leman Russ's nostrils, allowing him to further pinpoint the gateway between worlds.

This thing did not exist in relation to this world, and its presence was exceedingly faint even to Magnus and Leman Russ's senses. Going back through it was already impossible.

Leman Russ shifted his gaze away from the gateway and focused his thoughts on their mission.

Open a passage, investigate the universe, and find new territory for their shattered world to expand into.

"Magnus, did you ask Lin Fan about this world?" Leman Russ asked, his tone making it sound like the obvious thing to do.

Magnus nodded and patted his chest as he answered briskly, "I asked nothing besides the name of the place."

"That's good... I knew you had a talent for this sort of thing... Wait. What did you just say?"

"The place we're in is called Terra," Magnus answered, pinching a bright little flower between his fingers and examining it carefully.

Leman Russ grew anxious. He grabbed Magnus by the arm and demanded, "Didn't you ask Lin Fan about the specifics of this world? How are we supposed to proceed otherwise?"
