What was Yggdrasil?
It was a virtual reality online game that had sparked an enormous craze in their world. Though it primarily featured a fantasy setting with races such as dragons, elves, and undead, the developers had not limited themselves to that. They had also added several more science-fiction-oriented races.
For instance, Shizu of the Pleiades battle maids was a combat automaton filled with mechanical flair, capable of easily summoning numerous firearms and cannons for battle.
But the things Ainz was seeing now... were simply far too novel.
Ice-blue armor, firearms with barrels nearly as thick as a wrist, and combat strength far surpassing that of the natives.
Was this an Easter egg in Yggdrasil?
Ainz thought it was highly possible. He might have been a veteran player, but he would not claim to fully understand every aspect of the game. Some exceptionally hidden mechanics could only possibly be known by the game's creators.
For example, during the earlier battle at Carne Village, the village chief Eri had triggered an item's hidden effect, summoning a powerful goblin army that crushed the First Prince's forces. That had undoubtedly shocked Ainz.
At the thought that these beings might be an Easter egg in the game, Ainz's collector's instinct flared up again.
The loss of a Death Knight was nothing significant. As long as Ainz wished it, he could use corpses and mana to create more.
Now, Ainz only wanted to see what else these three strange and novel warriors could do. The stronger they were, the greater their value as collectibles.
