Tuchulcha Engine.
As an ancient relic, it had not been placed aboard Lion El'Jonson's flagship. Instead, it was hidden within a fold of space, accessible only with a unique key.
"Just how many treasures have the Dark Angels hidden away?"
Horus stood outside Lion El'Jonson's private chamber with Magnus and Sanguinius, waiting for Lion El'Jonson to finish preparing the Tuchulcha Engine for deployment. By rights, Horus should have been gathering the Luna Wolves aboard his own flagship, but Sanguinius had flatly refused to allow it, insisting that Horus remain within his sight.
"Are you trying to keep watch over me, brother?" Horus had asked in surprise at the time. Sanguinius did not answer. He merely drew his weapon in silence and left Horus to make his own choice.
Why exactly was that?
Horus could not make sense of it. Why had Sanguinius, who had always been so content to drift along, suddenly become so wary of him? It was as though he were guarding against the greatest villain in Imperial history.
After thinking it over for a long time, Horus could only recall that inexplicable thing Sanguinius had said before boarding the ship.
"I am not Konrad Curze..."
What had that meant?
Horus knew about Konrad Curze's condition. That pitiful brother had been cursed by his own gift, his mind driven mad by endless visions.
Was Sanguinius trying to imply that he possessed the same gift? Had he briefly seen some mad vision and thus become wary of Horus?
No matter how he considered it, that was the only explanation Horus could find for Sanguinius's strange behavior.
He turned his head and saw Magnus looking anxious while Sanguinius wore a deeply furrowed brow. Horus could clearly sense that Sanguinius was not merely guarding against him; he was also keeping watch
