The Orks' massive armored force charged at the Titan Legion and Skitarii with their infantry in tow. The enormous armored belly of the Gorkanaut opened, releasing the Ork Boyz and Killa Kans that had been waiting inside for so long. The Kill Tank used its Killkannon to blast everything blocking its line of fire into the sky.
Battlewagons weaved through the Skitarii positions at astonishing speed, sweeping the defenses with their big shootas. One Ork operated the vehicle's sharp mechanical claw, slicing apart the Skitarii's mechanical bodies.
Hundreds, thousands—an endless line of massive trucks halted behind the hills beyond the battlefield. Their completely exposed heavy artillery had been mounted on tracked chassis. The Flakk Trukks were unwilling to miss this rare chance for battle as well, lowering their quad, sextuple, and even twelve-barreled anti-aircraft guns and firing wildly at the Titans' Void Shields and the Skitarii.
The Knight Titans formed pairs, covering one another. Equipped with Ion Shields, two heavy woodcutter guns, and a Coaxial Battle Cannon, their arm weapons had been replaced with anti-armor Meltaguns and Knight-grade chainswords. They stood before the Knights armed with Avenger Gatling Cannons and rapid-fire cannons, shielding them from heavy fire and destroying the Deff Dreads.
The Knights equipped with more long-range weapons ruthlessly poured out their ammunition. Weapons all across their bodies fired in perfect alternation, leaving enough time for cooling. Their dense, flawless barrage sent every rampaging Ork Battlewagon flying, while the Deff Dreads equipped with four mechanical arms and circular saws were cleaved in half by the Imperial Knights' chainswords.
Every unit had its corresponding enemy. The Skitarii soldiers coldly slaughtered the tightly packed Ork Boyz, as well as the Stormboyz charging in with rockets strapped to their backs. Plasma and melta streams fired by the Destroyer Battle Servitors and Dunecrawlers turned the Orks' ramshackle vehicles and heavy tanks into slowly melting pools of metal.
The Storm Bolters and Super-heavy Flamers mounted on the Warhound Titans' left and right mechanical arms swept away everything on the ground, drowning the Gorkanauts releasing their troops in a flood of bolter rounds. Riddled with holes and dents, the battered Gorkanauts stopped moving and became safe cover that blocked shells from both sides.
Above their heads, more than twenty meters in the air, weapons capable of truly destroying the world streaked between the two armies. Strikes mixed with scrap and artillery shells slammed into the Void Shields of the Reaver Titans, Imperator Titans, and Warlord Titans. The shields of the Imperator and Warlord Titans, with their greater number of Void Shield generators, merely rippled faintly like water under the successive blows of the Ork Gu Juji and truck artillery. But the Reaver Titans' Void Shields flickered violently and blurred several times—a sign that they were about to overload. Yet no one could save them. They could only hope the Orks missed with their artillery, or pray for the Omnissiah to send down a miracle.
Then, with a shrieking bolt of lightning that tore through the sky, the Reaver Titan's Void Shield, which had blocked countless shells, finally overloaded. Like a punctured bubble, it dissipated outward from the center of the attack. Now the Reaver Titan could rely only on its thick armor to resist the assault.
Reaver Titan
Shells and lasers exploded and ricocheted across the Reaver Titan's armor plates, staining its once meticulously maintained carapace with indelible black marks. The missile nest atop its body was completely destroyed under the barrage. The burning flames and intermittent explosions made the Skitarii ache with anguish.
The largest Gu Juji on the battlefield, the Big Big Big Waaagh, began loading its Big Big Cannon for the second time. This artillery piece, positioned before the enormous mountain of scrap, occupied a third of its total area. Its massive barrel was wide enough for a Warhound Titan to run through.
The Big Big Cannon was held in place above and below by iron plates shaped like an Ork's huge mouth. It looked like an ugly Ork sticking a big shoota out of its mouth—Waaagh! indeed!
Under the orders and whip of the Big Mek, tens of thousands of Gretchin and Mekboyz stuffed can after can of metal slag and bombs into it all at once. Like some ultra-ancient shotgun, they casually shoved in a primer, threw a huge pile of stones into the barrel, and started firing without any fear of the barrel exploding. The great Big Mek Orkimedes had once said, "There ain't nuffin' I can't make! If it don't work, make it bigger and thicker!"
Now, the Big Mek who had created the super Gu Juji and the super Big Big Cannon decided to use this awe-inspiring cannon to prove Orkimedes's theory.
"If it fails, give it a good punch until it succeeds."
Having spoken such a philosophical line, the Big Mek felt that he was drawing ever closer to his idol, Orkimedes. After nearly ten thousand tons of metal scrap and explosives had been stuffed inside, he figured the Big Big Cannon was full enough. He jammed the enormous hammer in his hand into a hole and used all his strength to wrench it over.
Boom!
The recoil of the Big Big Cannon knocked it off its fixed rails, sending it crashing into the Gretchin and Orks behind it. The entire Gu Juji scrap mountain shook violently from the massive blast, flinging off many iron plates and nails that had not been secured or welded down. Inside, Gretchin clinging to scaffolding and hammering away with hammers and blowtorches tumbled from their platforms one after another, dying on metal spikes and flooring below.
The metal slag fired by the Big Big Cannon became a metal storm infused with the smell of gunpowder, indiscriminately striking the Skitarii positions from directly before its muzzle all the way to hundreds of kilometers away. Orks sliced to pieces by metal fragments and Skitarii with chunks of iron embedded in their chests and heads lay scattered across the ground. Just like that, the Big Big Cannon effortlessly tore open a massive gap.
The Big Mek did not even look at the damage. He was utterly immersed in the thunderous roar of the cannon. Just as the wise Orks had said, big was good, and bigger was even better!
"You useless gits! Keep stuffing more awesome scrap in there!"
The Big Mek issuing that order was crushed into pulp by a massive kinetic shell. Like a steel needle, the shell drove irresistibly into the heart of the scrap mountain before exploding. It had been fired by an Imperator Titan's Gatling Macro Cannon. Macro shells shot out one after another as the immense Gatling Macro Cannon barrels spun, carrying tremendous kinetic force that smashed the scrap mountain's outer shell to pieces and created explosions within that destroyed everything.
After a single volley, the largest scrap mountain on the battlefield collapsed inward from the inside out. The turrets atop it fell one after another, like unsecured steel pipes sliding down at a construction site, crashing onto the heads of fleeing Orks below and inflicting horrific casualties.
