"I'm sorry..."
Rokasna, his feathers glinting blue and gold, knelt trembling in the Crystal Labyrinth, deeply blaming himself for his incompetence.
"Sorry? Sorry for what?" Tzeentch's indifferent voice rang out as he looked up at the web of fate.
Rokasna trembled even harder. To him, this signified that Tzeentch was about to discard him as a chess piece.
"I'm sorry I failed to recover your debt... I'll go to the Blood God's domain and accept death at once..."
After knocking his head against the ground nine times in despair, Rokasna turned to leave. When he reached the stairs, he found Carlos holding out a hand to stop him.
Carlos looked utterly miserable. Pale scars left by Grey Knights psychic weapons covered his body. His chest had been split open, and sacred words praising the Emperor and filthy curses scorning demons had been carved into his beating heart.
Carlos's work lately had been difficult too...
"Cough, cough..." Carlos coughed twice. One of his heads laboriously spat out a consecrated power sword. "They're nothing but a bunch of barbarians."
"Yes, they're nothing but barbarians..." Rokasna wholeheartedly agreed.
Yet Carlos's attitude also revived Rokasna's spirits somewhat. He knew Carlos could foresee the future and know the past. If Carlos was stopping him, then he must still be alive in the future Carlos had seen.
"Headmaster... that thing really isn't right. He... he's too damned strange..."
"Mm."
"He's getting stronger and stronger now. Before, he couldn't even touch me..."
"Very good."
Rokasna could not fathom Tzeentch's intentions. He obediently shut his mouth and waited beside Carlos for orders.
"You needn't worry about that damned thing. You only need to listen to me and do what you ought to do. This time, it wasn't a small victory—it was a huge win. We won so hard
