The Big Canteen received an urgent transmission from the T'au Empire—the Tyranids had arrived.
The newly established psychic communications department became busy once again. Anya and Yawens gathered the astropaths for their second transmission.
The Wraithbone chamber was bright and spotless, covered everywhere in runes used to stabilize and encrypt the message.
Yawens stood among the astropaths. She was both the architect and guardian of the ritual. The Imperium's astropaths had been so brutally wild in their use of psychic power that she and Anya had been stunned. Only after a long period of instruction had these astropaths learned to control their strength steadily.
"Empty your minds. Inscribe the runes."
Yawens reminded them, her necklace gleaming brilliantly. It held an Aeldari rune meant to calm the mind and steady the spirit.
The astropaths clutched pieces of Wraithbone in their hands, closed their eyes, and divided their psychic power into as many portions as possible.
One portion protected their souls, one carved the Wraithbone, and one sent out the message.
Even for the Aeldari, this work was no simple task. Every time the astropaths completed a transmission, they were left nearly collapsed from exhaustion.
But at least maddened whispers would not contaminate their minds. Injury to the body was far better than injury to the mind.
"The swarm has arrived. Its estimated numbers are 240 billion, divided into five fleets striking at the T'au Empire's eastern fringe."
The message crossed the Warp and reached Lin Fan's fleet before the daemons could react.
The Aeldari and astropaths aboard the fleet responded quickly, guiding the message to rest upon the Wraithbone. The complete contents were recorded through Aeldari runes.
"Oh-ho, another war." Lin Fan did not have many thoughts after reading it. The swarm was both hard to fight and easy to fight.
