As the words fell, all three hundred and sixty doors opened in unison. The heavy roar surged from far to near, forming a storm of sound.
One Imperator Titan, two Imperator Titans, three Imperator Titans...
These Imperator Titans varied in height and armament. Their paintwork and banners recorded the glorious histories of their houses, while beneath them, even more Warlord, Reaver, and other Titans slept within mechanical tombs.
"Since you have so many, the Martian Cult must have hidden quite a few as well, right?" Amalaga asked curiously. Carl Bohar answered all his questions with a single short sentence.
"Mars is a burned library. We took the books; they guard the ashes."
Mars had gained its god, but lost its freedom.
With those words, Carl Bohar opened the Omniscience Council and stirred the Titan commanders' shared hatred.
These Titan commanders had once all been high-ranking members of the Martian Adeptus Mechanicus: grand master smiths, forge masters, masters of defense, archmagos, Fabricator-Generals...
They remembered the promises The Emperor had made to them, and they remembered how shamelessly he had broken those promises again and again.
Once, The Emperor's servants had brought Mars vast quantities of orders, along with materials, technology, blueprints, and slave labor. Countless STCs had been transported back from the front lines, while Mars's most vicious Cults had rushed to those same fronts to fight humanity's enemies.
Forge worlds were discovered, and technology was reclaimed. Yet danger lurked amid this flourishing prosperity.
Although the enormous orders brought unprecedented production growth and prosperity to Mars, they were also rapidly draining its productive capacity and technological reserves. Building the White Scars' Gloriana-class warship, Blade Storm, alone had consumed 4.5 percent of all Mars's industrial output.
Overdrawing Mars's productivity brought countless consequences. The Fabricator-General hurried from one
