The 26-kilometer-long Macragge's Honour was the Ultramarines' flagship. Guilliman had once marveled at this warship's power and majesty, but beside the 30-kilometer-long battleship Hope, it now seemed somewhat small.

Hope's heavy armor and massive guns gave Guilliman a headache. As a dependable man who carried contingency plans through to the end, Guilliman analyzed everything.

If this ship were captured by the enemy, how would I deal with it?

Force its destruction with a coordinated broadside from a fleet?

Before they even reached firing position, Hope's barrage would likely turn the navy Guilliman had painstakingly built into space debris.

What about boarding tactics, sending the Ultramarines in to sabotage it from within?

Guilliman believed that tactic had a chance of success, but the odds were slim. Without a miracle, even Ultramarines under his direct command would find it difficult to tame this beast of war.

That was without even considering a battle against the numerous, well-equipped Lamenters. The mortal armies from Big Canteen alone would make an Ultramarines breakthrough extremely difficult.

Not to mention Hope's automated defense systems and all manner of traps, each of which could become a grave for the Ultramarines.

Guilliman silently stared at Hope through the window, helpless melancholy radiating from him. It left Calgar, standing behind him, somewhat puzzled.

"My lord, what is wrong?"

"Nothing. I just feel that I am rather useless."

Calgar's eyes widened, and he did not know how to respond to Guilliman's heavy words.
