While they were discussing matters, the teleportation device activated. In an instant, 100 Lamenters and 1,500 expeditionary soldiers appeared on a flat expanse of land measuring a full five thousand square metres. Once the smoke created by the thunder dissipated, Benedict immediately spotted Creed, with his crew cut and solid build.
Creed still wore a Cadian-style uniform and a heavy cloak, making him seem utterly out of place among the well-equipped expeditionary troops around him.
The first wave of expeditionary troops included 500 Earth Caste technicians. The moment they arrived, they removed the two engineering drones from their backs and activated them, directing the machines to dismantle battlefield wreckage and reassemble the parts they needed.
The other thousand expeditionary soldiers immediately began establishing defensive positions. They removed the extra Aegis generators issued with their armour, linked them together, and tossed several solid grenades onto the ground.
The solid grenades detonated with muffled booms, as though someone had covered a firing gun with an iron can. Foam-like walls rose along with the sound. These walls could effectively absorb the impact of kinetic weapons, while the Aegis system would handle attacks from energy weapons.
Benedict had never seen equipment like theirs before, and their uniform efficiency in rapidly deploying a defensive position stunned him. Even among the Cadians, famed for producing elite troops, the military discipline displayed by these expeditionary soldiers would rank among the very best.
But this was only the beginning. Benedict saw the massive, arch-shaped teleportation device become wreathed in thunder once more. Another wave of troops would soon arrive here.
While Benedict was still staring blankly, Creed and his adjutant Kyle approached. Seeing that a comrade was still alive on a battlefield like Cadia was indeed a wonderful thing, so Creed gave Benedict a great big hug.
