"You incompetent scraps!" the Chaos sorcerer cursed. The psyker combat squad's interference had enraged him. Though Harken lacked the Chaos sorcerer's sharp psychic senses, he could still detect that something was amiss from the sorcerer's loss of composure.

Selling out one's teammates was a hallmark of Chaos armies. It simply had to be savored.

Harken swiftly led his warriors away from the Chaos sorcerer, with no intention whatsoever of helping him.

The Chaos sorcerer cursed under his breath and forcibly cut off his control over the distant psychic spell. The power of Chaos immediately backlashed into his soul, mutating several of his internal organs into living things. The sorcerer could hear the bizarre sounds of those organs complaining, and he could also feel his bodily functions rapidly weakening.

He temporarily ignored the pain, raised his staff toward the sky, and gathered his strength. Following the staff, Harken spotted the tiny black dots of lightning-strike missiles descending from above. He tried to shoot them down with his bolter, only to find that they were far too high and distant.

The front ends of the lightning-strike missiles opened in a cross shape, revealing a structure like a Tesla coil within. Thick, dangerous arcs of lightning flickered in and out across the coils.

Then the missiles' tails detonated violently, unfurling masses of extraordinarily dense black cloud. Countless particles within those clouds rubbed and collided against one another, continuously building up positive and negative charges on either side of the air medium. The voltage surged at incredible speed, quickly exceeding the threshold needed to break down the air.

Then that bolt of lightning poured down through the Tesla coils at the front, striking directly at the Chaos sorcerer's head.
